Kompress low voltage cable jointing kits are produced to comply with the requirements of BS 6910 part 1
1988 and are designed for use with cables with copper or aluminium conductors in the voltage range to
1000V AC and 1500V DC. They are particularly suitable for PVC/SWA/PVC cables to BS6346 and
XLPE/SWA/PVC cables to BS 5467 around which our joint selection charts are based. Kompress Cable
Jointing products are supplied in accordance with our ISO 9002 accreditation.
All Kompress cable jointing kits include armour bonding accessories suitable for cables to BS 6346
and BS 5467 to ensure continuity of the earth fault return path through the armour wires.
The KSJ and KBJ series joints have clear rigid joint shells with a self sealing feature. They are clearly marked
with the system reference and have adjustable cable entry diameter.
All Kompress jointing kits are complete and packaged in one carton in a modular system. All joint sizes up to
70 sq mm 4 core are contained in a reclosable carton making kit inspection and selection very easy.
These sizes also have a carry handle to the carton.
The Kompress part numbering system is very simple.
Identify the type of joint required - straight (KSJ), branch (KBJ) or multi service (KMSJ).
Read across the selection chart based on required cable size(s) and number of cores to identify
correct size of cable joint required.
As our kits are ranged taking CONNECTORS ARE NOT INCLUDED but need to be identified from the
accompanying chart and ordered as separate items.
For overseas climates with an AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IN EXCESS of 80ºF/30ºC, please add suffix M to the jointing kit part number in order that modified resin may be supplied.

The joint encapsulation material consists of cold poured
polyurethane resin for use in conjunction with our mould or it
can be supplied separately in the pack sizes shown below:-

KPR500 500ml
KPR1000 1000ml
KPR2000 2000ml
Advantages of the Kompress system include:
1 Low exotherm during cure.
2 Good flexibility when cured.
3 High flash point of uncured parts.
4 Minimal health hazards due to low vapour pressure of
component parts
5 Rapid set time plus rigid construction of moulds allowing
immediate backfill.
6 Shelf life of up to 24 months
Health precautions:
All materials have been proven to be safe to handle when
reasonable care is taken. Ordinary hygienic principles such as
washing the compound from the hands before eating or smoking
should be observed. Avoid breathing the vapour, prolonged
contact with the skin, or ingestion. Because of its low vapour
pressure the accelerator part, which is modified Isocynate,
presents no health hazards provided the above principles are
followed. The gloves supplied should be worn during mixing.
• Large clear rigid shells making observation and assembly of
completed joint much simpler
• New, environmentally friendly, two-part bag mix resin system replaces
cans and bottles.
• New improved packaging - the kit is complete in one carton with up
to 24 months’ shelf life.
• Simplified part numbering system for easy identification and selection.
• Full range of connectors available. Connectors should be identified
from the relevant charts and must be ordered as required.

JACK SUPPORTSKompress Jack Supports are designed for use with the standard cable drum jacks.
This enables drums of up to 2.4m (8ft) diameter to be lifted without the use of
dangerous or untidy packing blocks. They are constructed from heavy gauge angle
iron to provide excellent strength and stability.
