2.2.2 RANGE ButtonTheRANGEbuttonchanges themeasurement range.Atpower-up, theselectedrangeis2000fcor2000lux.
PresstheRANGEbuttonuntilthedesiredluxorfcrangeisselected.EachtimeyoupresstheRANGEbutton,therangewillincreasebyafactoroften(x10),andanewvalueisdisplayed.Thescalefactor(fc,kfc,lux,klux)isdisplayedinthelowerlefthandcornerofthedisplay.
2.2.3 HOLD ButtonTheHOLDbutton“freezes”thereadingonthedisplay.PresstheHOLDbuttontoactivatetheHOLDfunction.IntheHOLDmode,theHOLDannunciatorisdisplayedintheupperpartoftheLCDdisplayandthelastreadingisdisplayeduntiltheHOLDbuttonisreleased.

Pressthe buttontoturntheBack-lightON.PressagaintoturnOFF.

Pressthe buttonfor2secondstoenterorexittheMAXmode.Whenenabled,MAXisdisplayedintheupperrighthandcornerofthedisplay.TheLightmeterthenrecordsanddisplaysthemaximumabsolutevalue.ItisonlyupdatedwhenanewMAXisreached.

Pressthe buttonfor2secondstoenterorexitthePEAKmode.Whenenabled,PEAKisdisplayedintheupperlefthandcornerofthedisplay.In thePEAKmode, the Lightmeter records and displays themaximumabsolutevalueovera50msperiodandisupdatedwhenanewPEAKisreached.

The Inverse-square LawThe inverse-square law states that the illuminant E at a point on a surface varies directly with the intensity I of a point source, and inversely as the square of the distance d between the source and the point. If the surface at the point is normal to the direction of the incident light, the law is expressed by E=I/d2.
Cosine LawThe cosine law states that the illuminant on any surface varies with the cosine of the angle of incidence. The angle of incidence q is the angle between the normal to the surface and the direction of the incident light. The inverse-square low and the cosine law can be combined as E=(I cos q) /d2.

OPERATION
4.1 Recommendations Before Operating• Keepthewhiteplasticdomedcosinecorrectorcleanandfreeofany
scratches.Itmaybecleanedwithasoftclothandalittlewateroriso-propylalcohol.
• Avoid reflectionsorshadows fromyourbodyonto thesensor,whenlightisemittedfrommanydirections.
• Forbestaccuracy,repeatmeasurementsseveraltimestoensurethatthelightsourceisstable.
• Avoidflexingthecableexcessivelyateitherend.
4.2 Operating Instructions1. Slidethefunctionswitchtothedesiredluxorfc(foot-candle)setting.
2. Selecttheappropriaterangeor,ifindoubt,selectthehighestsetting(kluxorkfc).
3. Removethesensorheadcover.
4. Holdthesensorheadsteadyandmakesurethatthelightcompletelyfillsthecosinecorrectionwhitedome.
5. Moveawayfromthesensorheadtoavoidshadowingit.Thesensorheadhasa5ft(1.5m)extensioncabletoallowseparationbetweenthecaseandtheunobstructedmeasurementlocation.
6. PresstheRANGEbuttonuntilanoptimumreadingrangeisobtained.
7. Readtheilluminantvaluedirectlyfromthedisplay.
8. Whenfinished,slidethefunctionswitchtoOFFandcoverthesensorhead(extendsthesensorlife).

MAINTENANCE
Use only factory specified replacement parts.AEMC® will not be heldresponsible for anyaccident, incident, ormalfunction followinga repairdoneotherthanbyitsservicecenterorbyanapprovedrepaircenter.
5.1 Replacing the Battery The symbolappearson thedisplaywhen replacement isneeded.Replacewithastandard9Vbattery(NEDA1604,6LR61).
To replace the battery:
• TurntheLightmeterOFF.
• Removetherubberholster.
• Removethescrewfromthebackofthemeterandliftoffthebat-tery cover.
• Replacethebattery,thenputtherearcoverandholsterbackon.
5.2 Cleaning• Useasoftclothlightlydampenedwithsoapywater.
• Rinsewithadampclothandthendrywithadrycloth.
• Donotuseanyabrasivesorsolvents.
• Donotletanyliquidenterthecaseorsensorarea.

Toensurethatyourinstrumentmeetsfactoryspecifications,werecommendthatitbescheduledbacktoourfactoryServiceCenteratone-yearintervalsforrecalibration,orasrequiredbyotherstandardsorinternalprocedures.
