    The Semester Paper must be:

    Presented in the style of an academic paper. Word-processed, preferably on double-sided paper, in font Arial 12 with

    single line spacing, and with all margins (top, bottom, left and right) set at2.5cm.

    No longer than 3,000 words in length. Minimum of 2500 words

    and depth, and ability to contextualise and interrelate relevant theoreticalconcepts is significant. Analysis and application are outstanding, and answersare characterised by independent thought, reflection and clarity. Overall outputis highly literate, focused, with sustained arguments, and technically fluent. Abroad range of highly relevant industry examples is used and sources ofinformation are accurately referenced.

    60-69%-Merit-Upper 2nd

    Required knowledge and understanding are relevant and of a very good level.Ability to contextualise and interrelate theoretical concepts is also very good butbroad in nature. Analysis and application are effective and answers are clear,indicating independent thought and reflection. Overall output is literate, focusedand coherent, but arguments are not consistent at the required level all of thetimes. A range of very relevant industry examples is used and sources ofinformation are well referenced.

    50-59%-Good-Lower 2nd

    Required knowledge and understanding are reasonable, awareness of relevanttheoretical concepts is indicated, but ability to interrelate is restricted. Analysis islimited and application superficial. Overall output is characterised by assertionrather than valid arguments and grammar/spelling occasionally lapses. A rangeof fairly relevant industry examples is used and sources of information are fairlywell referenced.

    40-49%-Pass-3rd

    Required knowledge and understanding are limited, as is awareness of relevanttheoretical concepts, but with some degree of accuracy. Analysis andapplication are superficial, and overall output is characterised by lack of focusand poor grammar/spelling. Industry examples are used and sources ofinformation are referenced.

    0-39%-Fail

    There is no evidence of required knowledge and understanding, appreciation ofrelevant theoretical concepts is absent, analysis and application are non-
