Definition – Anyone paying rent who is 16+
Members are expected to follow the by-laws
• pay your rent on time
• contribute to the building (MCP system)
• respect the rights of other members to quiet enjoyment of the building

To get an orientation, call x6006 and leave your name and number or e-mail the facility Manager.
Be patient, sometimes it takes awhile to organize an orientation
If you don’t hear anything back, call your CA
When you sign your lease, you absolve NW of any responsibility when using the Facilities

Always sign in your guests with Security– sign your guest in once a day (from midnight to midnight)– you are responsible for your guests actions– do not let in strangers (protect yourself & your neighbours)
This helps protect the building from theft

The alarms in the units will sound for 5 minutes before setting off the fire panel
The alarms in the main hallway will set off the fire panel immediately
If you burn toast, do not open the main unit door!

Do not damage the Fire Equipment– Even if you find the alarm annoying– The panel may short-circuit & the alarm will
continue to sound – You will be charged for repairs– You may also be charged by the Fire Department

In the case of a fire, there are two alarms
Siren– Stay in your unit and wait for information– Security or Fire Department will announce the three floors
closest to the triggered alarm that are to evacuate

Twice a year there are Clean-fests– common rooms are inspected & treated as a
Move-out– If you fail the Clean-fest, you’re probably going
to fail the Move-out inspection– Informal monthly inspections will also take
place.
If you fail Move-Out, you will be charged for cleaning and repairs

4. Community Assistants (CAs)

Community Assistants are members hired by the building (answer to CDC – Melissa Wilkes)
A C.A. will be represent one or two floors
C.A.s help members get their MCP hours– providing clubs/committees– giving members ideas for what they can do– entering hours into the NW Database

In Neill-Wycik, there is the Member Contribution Program (MCP)– it helps lower rent by having members help with maintenance– it helps the community & makes Neill-Wycik a fun place
Each member must contribute 2 hours/month
The hours must be approved by a C.A. or the CDC

You may not always have time, so try to bank hours!
This means you can do a few month’s worth of hours in one month
If you bank your hours, they cannot be done in the same committee or event unless previously approved
