CARE
Every two hours, someone in our community is diagnosed with cancer
One in three will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime 7,361 new cases each year 30,000 in treatment 2,639 cancer related deaths 150,000 survivors
Fragmented care: During treatment, patients will interact with 8 medical professionals each visit averaging 15 minutes.
Unmet needs: Whole-person and family supportive care needs are not fully acknowledged across cancer systems.
These failures contribute to unnecessary physical and psychological distress and poor quality of life and patient experience
WHY CANCER COACHING
PATIENT AND FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
I am overwhelmed by the daily challenges I face. I feel bounced around in the system. I don’t know how to talk to my doctors. I need help to make so many decisions. I am flooded with information and not sure what to trust… I want to know how to take better care of myself. What should I eat? What exercise program could help? I need help coping with fear and anxiety. How can I better manage pain and fatigue? I worry about my finances. Caring for my wife is exhausting. I need support.
Patients are the most underutilized resource in the health care system.
93% of patients want family or friends involved in care

COMMUNITY AND MISSION
The Cancer Foundation is dedicated to increasing cancer survivorship
We help people living with cancer by providing person-centered health and social care through Cancer Coaching and funding innovative cancer research that increases access to personalized treatment.
Through our actions we aim to achieve outcomes that directly impact the people in our community. We focus on “what matters to them”.
Those we help are “cancer survivors” they include cancer patients -- from day one of diagnosis, through treatment, recovery and beyond and at end of life – as well as their families and their caregivers.
