Prof.MartinHolland

Prof. Martin Holland holds New Zealand’s only Jean Monnet Chair adpersona and is a Director of both the National Centre for Research onEurope at theUniversity of Canterbury and of EuropeanUnion CentresNetwork in New Zealand. He is an active member of a number ofinternationalEUresearchnetworks.ProfessorHollandhastaughtattheUniversityofCanterburysince1984:in2000heestablishedtheNationalCentreforResearchonEurope,NewZealand’sonlydedicatedEUtertiarylevelcentre.Professor Holland is internationally recognised for his work on EUDevelopment Policy, Common Foreign and Security Policy andPerceptions of the EU. IanaSabatovychisathird-yearPhDstudentandPost-DoctoralResearchFellowattheNationalCentreforresearchonEuropeattheUniversityofCanterbury(Christchurch,NewZealand).In2010,IanagraduatedfromtheMariupolStateUniversityofHumanities(Mariupol, Ukraine) completing her Bachelor degree in InternationalEconomywithHonours.In2011,shegraduatedMariupolStateUniversity(Mariupol, Ukraine), accomplishing Master in International EconomicActivities with Honours. She organized academic events in MalaysiabeforejoiningtheNCREasaPh.D.studentin2013.Her thesis investigates the patterns of Ukraine’s post-communisttransition and limitations of Europeanization with a particularconsideration of Europeanization beyond Europe in an absence of EUmembershipprospect.

Prof.GalinaYavorskagraduatedfromtheFacultyofRussianLanguageandLiteratureat theShevchnkoStateUniversity inKyiv in1975.Since1976 she was working at the Department of General Linguistics andSlavic Languages at the Potebnya Institute of Linguistics, Academy ofSciencesofUkraine.In1988sheacquiredherPhDdegree(CandidateofSciences) in General Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics andin 2000 she acquired the Second PhD (Doctor of sciences) degree inGeneralLinguistics.Since2001till2010shewasworkingattheNationalInstituteforInternationalSecurity.Since2010sheisworkingasachiefresearcher of Foreign Policy and International Security Department atthe National Institute for Strategic Studies. She was appointed a fullprofessorinNationalSecurityin2010.Shehaspublishedextensivelyonvarious aspects of lexical sematics, semantically oriented typology,cognitivesemantics.Theother importantdirection inherworkfocuseson the interplay of language and society, including sociolinguistic andpoliticaldiscourseanalysisapproaches.GalinaYavorskaisalsoanexpertin global and regional security issues, esp. in EU’s NeighbourhoodPolicy.Galina Yavorska was involved in cross-cultural and cross-linguistics research on lexical typology (color names, pain metaphors,social terms in Slavic and other Indo-European languages), she haspublishedworksontheUkrainianpoliticaldiscourseandtheperceptionof EU/Europe in Ukrainian texts through the prism of conceptualmetaphors. She was a participant of a whole number of internationalresearch projects promoting the results of her work at variousconferences.

Prof.SvitlanaZhabotynska

Prof. Svitlana ZhabotynskaobtainedherCandidateofSciences (PhD)degree fromKyivState Institute forForeign languages (1982), andherDoctorofLinguistics(Habilitation)degreefromMoscowStateLinguisticUniversity(1993)andKyivNationalLinguisticUniversity(2000).Since1990, she has been doing research in the field of cognitive linguisticsthatstudiesthenatureofinteractionbetweenlanguageandthemind.Asa Senior Fulbright Scholar, she stayedwith theUniversity of Illinois atUrbana-Champaign(1995),andtheUniversityofCaliforniaatSanDiego(2000-2001)whereshewasexposedtotheaccomplishmentsofvariousAmerican schools of linguistic pragmatics, cognitive linguistics, andneurolinguistics. She is the authorof Semantics of LingualNetworks, aconception that develops methodology for construal of linguistic and-non-linguisticinformation.Her150scholarlypublicationsinthefieldofcognitive linguistics and cognitive science focus on the conceptualfoundations of various linguistic phenomena (part-of-speech systems,derivationalmorphology,lexicalmeaning,lexicalfields,syntax,textanddiscourseorganization),andtheirapplicationinthelanguageclassroom.Of late, the spheres of her particular interest have been politicallinguistics(theuseoflanguageasweaponsintheinformationwar),andneurologicalfoundationsoflanguageacquisitionandbilingualism.At her home university, among other classes, she teaches theoreticallinguistics, research methodologies of cognitive linguistics, andconceptualmodelingforlanguageacquisition.Sheguest-lecturesalotatdifferentuniversitiesinsideandoutsideUkraine.

Prof.OlenaMorozova

Olena I. Morozova is Professor of Linguistics at V.N.KarazinKharkivNational University. She is the author of the book Ложь какдискурсивное образование: лингвокогнитивный аспект [Lying as aDiscourse Formation: ALinguocognitive Aspect], Kharkov (2005), adozenchaptersincollectivemonographsandoverfiftypublishedpaperswhichaddress issuesofcognitive linguisticsanddiscoursestudies.Hercurrentresearch,whichisunderpinnedwiththeecologicalapproachtosense-formation, concentrates on linguistic aspects of persuasion,speechmanipulation, lyinganddeception.The issues in focusare:howlanguageisrootedininterpretationoflinguisticandnon-linguisticsigns;how this process contributes into our construction of identities forpeople around us and a repertoire of personas for ourselves; how adeeper understanding of linguistic construal processes can inform thetheory and practice of language teaching in higher educationalestablishments. DrAnastasiyaPshenichnykh

Dr. Anastasiya Pshenichnykh is Associate Professor of EnglishPhilology Department at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University,Ukraine. Her initial scientific interest was cognitive and discursivestudies: in 2012 she defended her Ph.D. in Philology on the topicReperspectivization of the Referent Situation in English DialogicalDiscourse(asPresented inMultimediaLive-ActionFilms). In order to dothis research she moved to the field of image and media studies andbecameaparticipantofHigherEducationSupportProgram,PhilosophyandMediaprojectundertheguidanceofaninternationalgroupofinter-disciplinary scientists. Since then she has been lecturing MediaCommunicationsAnalysiscourseandhasbeendoinganinter-disciplinaryand inter-semiotic research of media: Soviet and Post-Soviet spaceconceptualizationandrepresentationinfilms,interculturalperspectivesof big cities construedby films, aggressionon the Internet, advertisingstrategiesandothers.

Dr. PatrickMüller is SeniorResearchFellowat the Faculty for SocialScienceattheUniversityoftheBasqueCountry.From2009till2015hewas Assistant Professor at the Institute for European IntegrationResearchatViennaUniversity.PatrickwasalsoworkingasTransatlanticPost-doc Fellow for InternationalRelations at theGerman Institute forInternational and Security Affairs (SWP), the Institut Français desRelations Internationales (IFRI), Paris, and at the Johns HopkinsUniversityinWashingtonDC.HisresearchinterestsincludetheEU’srolein global governance, European foreign policy, Middle East andMediterranean Politics, and the Arab Israeli conflict. JM Prof. Knodt specialises in European Multi-Level Governance,EuropeanExternalEnergyGovernanceand interest intermediationanddirects the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence “EU in Global Dialogue(CEDI). She coordinates another project onEU’s democracypromotionin the South-Caucasus and Central Asia founded by the VolkswagenFoundation with 8 partners out of the two regions. Financed by theGerman ForeignMinistry she just started a project on “Civil Society oftheEasternPartnership inDialogue:MutualPerceptionsof theEasternPartnershipCountries,RussiaandtheEU”asaleaderwithpartnersoutof the6EasternPartnershipcountries.Asa leaderofEnergyCentreatTUDarmstadt,shepioneeredavisionofenergyasacross-cuttingissue.She broadens the research perspective by analysing the norms,discoursesandroles/identitiesthatshapethemodesofexternalenergygovernance. She is currently coordinating an international researchproject on EU External Energy Governance towards the emergingpowersincorporating11partnersinEUandfour‘emergingpowers’.Sheis a part of a German Research Foundation Group (DGF) on localknowledge formationonclimateandenergypolicyandCo-Coordinatorof anEUProject on ‘Imagesof theEUas a global energyactor as seenthrough theeyesofBRICS’. Prof.BenO’Loughlin

Dr. Ben O’Loughlin is Professor of International Relations and Co-Director of the New Political Communication Unit at Royal Holloway,University of London. He completed his doctorate at the University ofOxford in 2005. Ben is an expert in international politicalcommunication.Hehascompletedanumberofprojectsexplaininghowpowerand influenceoperate inrelationsbetweenmedia,policymakersand publics. In recent years he has built up the theory strategicnarratives in the book StrategicNarratives: Communication Power andtheNewWorldOrder(NewYork: Routledge, 2013) and in a volume ofcase studies entitled Forging the World: Strategic Narratives andInternationalRelations(AnnArbor:UniversityofMichiganPress,2016).Ben is co-editor of the Sage journal Media, War & Conflict. ShealsoobtainedaninteruniversitaryMAinEasternEuropeanStudiesfromtheuniversities of Ghent, Brussels and Leuven. As a researchfellow at the Institute for International and European Policy(K.U. Leuven), she wrote her PhD dissertation on StateIsomorphismintheSlavicCoreoftheCIS:GeopoliticalPluralismin Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. She currently works anAssistantProfessorinSlavicandEastEuropeanStudiesatKULeuvenandteachescoursesonRussianandPolishPoliticsandSociety.HerresearchfocusesontheEastSlavicregion(Russia,UkraineandBelarus)andcoverspost-SovietforeignpolicyandEast-West relations, more in specific the relations betweendifferentregionalorganisationsontheEurasiancontinent(theEU’sEasternPartnership,theEurasianEconomicUnion,ODKB,etc).
