C3: Working with Others

Firstly my product (shop canopy) tied in with the entire feel of the set which was run down and tired looking.

For example the taxi rank’s sign was sanded down to make it look older and less pristine, therefore we used mud and tea to stain the fabric of canopy. Another part of our set (The Stop ‘n’ Shop) that needed to work together was the colour scheme of the shop in relation to the canopy. We selected a fabric which contained the colours green blue yellow and red; as a result of this the rest of the set consisted of these colours. For example the sign was blue and green letters on a yellow background, the counter was blue and the interior walls of the shop were green. When purchasing the paints we choose slightly faded matte colours as appose to a high gloss bright finish. We did this to tie the shop in with the dated feel of the set as the context of the play means we know it is in a rundown area. When we were stocking our shop with products it was important to use products that tied in with the geographical and social context of the play, as well as items mentioned and used in the script. For example there are references to Pepsi in the script so therefore we stocked out shop with Pepsi cans that we recycled.
