Braille Smartphone Cover
ALHANOUF, ABDULLAH S, ALOBAYSHI helps the blind to read books, messages and other texts from the smartphones in braille without use a loudspeaker or an earpiece, by converting words from the mobile, through using signals transmitter program (Bluetooth), alhanouf alobayshi [email protected] alrawdah alqalam street khaleel almaghrabi Riyadh Riyadh 11564 Saudi Arabia +966112305036 +966560444337
Figure (1)
Invention's Background
The current invention concerns smartphones covers that utilize Braille to assist the blind and
visually impaired in reading letters, words, or e-books. Today, smart devices have become an
integral part of everyday life, such as communicating with others through direct calls, SMS,
multimedia or e-mail, in addition to doing some daily work and benefiting from
governmental services and private sectors provided electronically. On personal level, these
devices enable the reader to download several books or read news, newspapers or articles…
etc. It is well known that buying books in Braille can be costly and not often all books are
available in this language. There are obstacles and difficulties for the daily use of these
techniques; there are currently types of modern devices that help the blind or visually
impaired to read books, for example, by vocalizing written speech through the loudspeaker.
This method is flawed by lack of privacy and disturbance of others, and the use of sound
through the earphones may cause an ear problem in case of listening to audio books for
extended periods of time. Special smartphone devices for the blind or visually impaired could
be the most feasible from the aforementioned techniques where they can read letters or
books through touching the screen of his own smartphone. The problem here lies in the
specifications of these devices as they are extremely limited and often in unacceptable
shape, or not sufficiently available in the market which hinders this category of people from
accepting these devices and purchasing and using them. This invention has solved all
obstacles as this separate cover could be used according to the type of smartphone. This
enables the blind or visually impaired to use any smartphone available in the market without
the need to purchase a special device or use headphones/speakers for extended periods of
time.
General Description of the invention:
The current invention solves all aforementioned problems by purchasing this separate cover
according to the type of the smartphone. This enables the blind or visually impaired to use
any smartphone available in the market without the need to purchase a special device or use
headphones for extended periods of time. This current invention is about an all-types of
smart devices cover that would assist the blind and visually impaired to read books and
letters or websites and other texts by converting words in smartphone via special program or
application. What distinguishes this smart cover is that it is a completely separate product
that can be manufactured according to the type of smartphone and from different materials
according to the market demand. It also can be manufactured for other smart devices such
as tablets and other reading smart devices.
Brief explanations of figures:
Figure (1) illustrates the smartphone. It has a receiving unit and pins to read in Braille.
Detailed Description:
The current invention contains a cover (2) for smartphones (1) that assists the blind or
visually impaired in reading books and letters and other forms of texts in the smartphone by
converting written words in the smartphone through using a program/application that
converts texts and written words and images into programmatic codes that will be sent
wirelessly like Bluetooth to the receiving unit (3) in the cover (2). Afterwards, signals will be
electrically transmitted to the pins (4) which jut and decline according to a specific pre-
programming as accustomed to in Braille.
The conversion of written words to Braille happens when the user downloads the
program/application to the smartphone. Its task is to read and convert words, written texts,
and images into pre-programmed codes and send them through the Bluetooth feature (other
converting techniques may be used as well) to transmit data from the device to the receiving
unit (3) in the cover (2) of the smartphone (1). This cover (2) contains pre-programmed
electrical pieces and circuit to receive sent codes and send the command to the pins (4) to jut
and decline according to request in Braille. These pins (4) are covered with a layer of rubber
to facilitate the reading process for the user.
With this product if used as previously explained, inventing the smart cover has been
achieved for the blind and visually impaired to easily read. Skilled professional in the field will
realize that other models can be invented as explained in this request. According to the
aforementioned, inventing will be limited to attached protection items only.

Professional MarXman Marking Tool
Martin Chard MarXman is a time saving marking tool which quickly and Easily marks any surface for drilling or fixing martin Chard [email protected] 4 Somaford grove Barnet barnet London Hertfordshire en4 8ul United Kingdom +447815831810 n/a +447815831810 marxmanpen.co.uk
Martin Chard, the inventor of MarXman, was a self-employed building maintenance man and qualified engineer. He invented the MarXman after struggling to mark a fixing point whilst fitting a sink. Desperately trying to hold the sink in position and mark the wall with a pencil at the same time he found it really difficult to see the marks.
After a few time wasting attempts, in desperation, he reached for a can of black spray paint and marked it with that. He had experienced many similar frustrating incidents and lots of wasted trips up and down ladders with broken pencils and felt tips not marking different surfaces. He realised he needed a simple solution and in 2010 Martin started the process of developing the accurate and user friendly MarXman so that fellow tradesmen and DIY’ers could benefit from this time and frustration saving tool which clearly marks many different surfaces straight through the fittings.
During its development stage MarXman had an interesting journey winning several awards from the British Invention Show, including The Diamond Award for The British Invention of the year in 2013 and The Double Gold Consumer Product of the Year in 2014. At the Totally Tools show in February 2015 MarXman won Best DIY Product.
Following these endorsements by the trade and the public, Martin and his wife Jenny started to sell MarXman into small independent hardware shops, Qwerkity – M&G Presents, Amazon, and on eBay. A turning point was attending “Meet the Buyers” days organised by BHETA. Here, Martin met with key buyers from Wickes who decided that MarXman was a unique product that they would like to place on the check out counters in their stores across the UK. Similarly a meeting with Screwfix resulted in an online listing for MarXman.

THE X-PRO STORY
I first filed my Patent for this Invention back in 2006 and then approached my first Company with a view to licensing it to them. Some 18 months later after endless positive feedback mixed in with endless delays and requests for a decision I finally pulled it back and went elsewhere. I found the same experience was going to be the norm when approaching all of these big companies and learnt that this is in fact a ploy they inflict on Inventors all the time. When they are approached by an Inventor with a great idea they’ll stall as much as possible in the attempt to exhaust the Inventor of both finances and the will to live.
They want the use of the Invention but simply do not want to pay for it. I found many major and smaller manufacturers that wanted to take my Invention, but they all refused any plausible and viable Licensing deals with no assurances that I’d ever receive anything for my work anyway. They consistently refused; • Any kind of Advance Payment; • Any kind of Monthly Payment; • Any deadline on completion and introduction into the Market Place; To add insult to injury I was also expected to continue paying all Patent Costs AND take on the full costs of defending any infringements and losses incurred by them in such cases? Essentially it was ‘Hand it all over and Hope to get something later’ and even if I did get something it would constantly be at risk anyway if any legal/infringement issues arose? I eventually turned towards setting up my own business to produce it myself. After pondering on a name for a few months I came up with the X-Pro Brand name and then looked for a manufacturer in the industry to partner with instead, but taking this route I discovered that all manufacturers want full payment up front so I was financially shackled anyway? I spent the next few years seeking funding but kept occasionally revisiting the Licensing route as and when finances and willpower ran low.
Over this period I showed the Products at many Tradeshows and Exhibitions and the Invention even Won the coveted British Invention of the Year Award in 2009, the Retail Sector always absolutely loved them, but even after several years of approaching Banks and Investors over this same period and even with the Awards I was still constantly rejected due to one single issue, I had no Orders! Regardless of completing several Business Plans and even presenting Customer/Retailer Feedback and the Awards the Innovation had collected, the only thing that mattered to the Financial Sector was Orders? Essentially everything else was a total waste of time! Promise and Potential were irrelevant? THE ‘CATCH 22’ EXPLAINED; I’d fallen into that Proverbial ‘Catch 22’ that destroys so many Inventors and their great ideas. The ‘Catch 22’ explained; 1. Buyers need to see an Actual Production Quality Sample before they can place an ‘Order’, 2. Banks and Investors want to see Orders before providing the ‘Funding’. 3. You need the 'Funding to produce the ‘Tooling’ required to make the Product? As you can see there is no way out once you fall into this trap! I then decided to resurrect and old ‘Fund Raising’ idea I’d had many years earlier whilst pursuing another Project? I’d come up with a concept that would eventually become known as ‘Crowdfunding’. Surely this would resolve my financial woes and allow me to bring my project to market? THE BIRTH OF MODERN DAY CROWDFUNDING; I’d Invented Peter Pan the Adventure Boardgame in 1989 and after years of smacking my head against a wall trying to raise funds, and thoroughly exhausted by the total lack of financial support in the UK, I came up with
the idea of selling my products ‘In-Advance’ in 1993 after I’d seen these ‘Cut-Out Coupons’ in Newspapers and Magazines, where you ordered limited edition Franklin Mint Coins, etc. by cutting them out and sending them in with a cheque, and I thought this would be a great way to raise the production funding I needed to get my Game off the ground. I started approaching Newspapers and Magazines but quickly found that this was actually ‘Illegal’ at the time, you couldn’t ‘Forward Trade’ as it was known then. I tried for several months with many different tabloids and publishers and was furious that everything I tried to do to get out of this crippling financial situation was constantly being blocked by ridiculous regulations and rules. Apparently the ‘Act’ of selling in advance; 1. Broke Begging Laws. 2. Broke FSA Financial Regulations. 3. Broke Consumer Protection Rules. Odd how Car Companies could ‘Pre-Sell’ their new Models with some luxury sports cars having a 2-3 year waiting list? Try doing it for a Boardgame and Boom you’re a Criminal! Not to be put off I started approaching these Governing Bodies that make up these regulations and rules and eventually started to make progress. I’d contacted MOPS, the Mail Order Protection Scheme. Initially they were non responsive but I kept up my telephone assault and eventually got to speak to a Senior Investigator. After several hours in conversation and several calls over several months, He sent me a Publication and then called a few days later telling me that as a result of my persistence they had actually managed to change the Rules and a New Clause had been introduced into their ‘Code of Practice’. He pointed out the Page in the Booklet and the New Clause I had inspired! I still have this booklet. Life goes on an people need to eat so I reluctantly ran out of steam and put it on the shelf for future review and kept on slowly developing the idea in the background.   After having suffered the same issues again on the X-Pro Project, and also having seen so many other Crowdfunding schemes taking off I decided to try resurrecting the project, renamed it BizKit-Tin and just started selling my Products online via my own website, www.x-protools.com X-Pro – THE FIRST EVER SUCCESSFUL BIZKIT-TIN PROJECT; The all new Dragonfly from X-Pro became the first ever Product to have successfully raised its Production Funding via our all new www.bizkit-tin.com Crowdfunding Project.
Because the X-Pro Project finally raised its production funding via BizKit-Tin a Royalty of £1 Per Dragonfly Sold back into this BizKit-Tin Fund. This will help create a New Fund capable of helping other Inventors over this same hurdle. Through the Octopus Initiative Project I am slowly building up real Trading Accounts with National Retailers and Distributors and building up a Global Network of Like Minded Companies that are coming together to help level the playing field for all Inventors everywhere, regardless of the Inventors own financial situation. This adventure into the World of Innovation has not only spawned an great new set of Spirit Levels for Professional, Trades and DIY’ers alike, but it has also spawned what I hope will become a very Practical and Effective Innovation Support Project. The X-Pro Project itself is now gaining exceptional positive feedback, not only from Customers but also the Retail Sector too. It shows great promise for the future and will someday also be opened up to Other Inventors that also have great Tool related Projects.

Invention's Background
The current invention concerns interactive tables particularly for educational purposes.
Interactive tables are deemed as one of most recent technologies that could be utilized in
many aspects such as teaching, explaining certain content, promoting, or identifying orders
in restaurants.
These tables contain certain pre-installed software where content is displayed through a
screen that appears on the table surface where desired icons or pics can be selected by
pressing. However, these techniques do not resolve the problems associated with teaching
blind and visually Impaired people as it needs special language and different technique in
order to facilitate the learning and interacting process in an easy and simple manner.
General description of the invention:
This invention addresses problems in previous techniques. Current invention is about an
interactive table that may be used for reading by the blind and visually impaired. This table
consists of a drawer and a headphone port in one side (at least one) where the user can
listen to the audio reader via installing headphones in the specified port on one of the table
sides.
On the table surface, there are pins that are used to read in Braille. Inside this table there is a
fixed camera to capture the books and be converted programmatically into Braille by
sending commands to the pins to jut and decline on the table’s surface according to a pre-
programming that is familiar in Braille. This table is fixed on many legs with an adjustable
fixing base that can be replaced according to the nature of utilized surface. Other aspects
and features will be clarified in the following description and attached protective items.
Brief explanations of figures:
Figure (A) General figure with explanation of main components.
Detailed description:
The current invention concerns interactive table that is used for reading by the blind and
visually impaired. This table consists of: (1) Drawer, (2) headphone port on one side, (3) and
pins on the table's surface, (4) for reading in Braille with table fixed with legs, (5) at its end,
there is a replaceable fixing base (6).
Figure (A) illustrates current invention which consists of a table (1) that is often flat and lined
with rubber. It has a drawer (2) where user starts placing the selected book and turning the
page to be read as the internal camera hanged inside the drawer will capture a picture of
the page. The writing will be converted through the Raspberry Pi connected to the pre-
programmed camera into certain commands where the pins will be moved in order to be
read in braille by the user, or to be converted into audio folders as selected. Table legs are
distinguished (5) by easy folding feature where user can carry and shift the table around
easily. The end of the table is fixed with a base (6) which can be replaced as needed. It may
be rubber for smooth surfaces or conical when using on sandy, concreate, or carpet
floorings.
On one side of the table, there are speakers and/or headphone port (at least one) where user
can listen to the audio reader through installing the speakers into designated port.
That way, the objective of the interactive Braille table for the blind and visually impaired is
achieved. Skilled professional in the field will realize that other models can be invented as
explained in this request. According to the aforementioned, inventing will be limited to
attached protection items only.
