Dear Resident CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES The CityLink Tulla Widening project involves adding lanes and other measures to improve the flow of traffic across the 24 kilometre section of freeway from the CityLink tunnels to Melbourne Airport. The project will also provide travel time savings per trip between Melbourne Airport and the West Gate Freeway during peak periods. Once completed, the project will deliver a safer, more reliable freeway. Generally, an additional lane is being added in each direction, as well as upgrades at key interchanges including Bell Street, Mount Alexander Road / Flemington Road and on the Bolte Bridge to West Gate Freeway entry ramp. Dear Resident

CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

The CityLink Tulla Widening project involves adding lanes and other measures to improve the flow of traffic across the 24 kilometre section of freeway from the CityLink tunnels to Melbourne Airport.

Leighton Contractors is the construction contractor for the Bulla Road to Power Street section of the project. We would like to advise you of what to expect from our construction works over the coming months.

Where we will beThe majority of our works will take place on CityLink within the existing road corridor. At times we may need to work on land next to the freeway corridor. In your area, some construction activities on your side of the noise wall are required to allow for the additional lanes.

When works will occurWork hours for construction will be 7am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. On occasions we may need to work outside of these times to ensure public and worker safety. We will notify you of any works outside of these hours that may impact you.

Works on the CityLink Tulla Widening project have now commenced and we expect them to be completed by 2018. We will be working in and around your area from January 2016. We will continue to give you advance notice of works that may impact you.

What we are doingOver the past few weeks we have been preparing the freeway for construction works to commence, by installing concrete safety barriers to create safe work areas for our crew, changing line marking and reducing the speed limit on the freeway. You may have also noticed that we have been trimming and clearing vegetation along the road corridor to prepare the site for works.

Over the coming months, we will be undertaking activities such as:• Establishing temporary access to our work sites• Utility works including investigation, relocation/protection and installation of temporary services• Upgrading drainage services• Removing some of the existing concrete barriers on CityLink that are no longer required• Upgrading protection measures on existing piers and overhead signage structures• Site investigation works for the widening of the bridge over Moonee Ponds Creek north of Wallace

Crescent• Site investigation works for the extension of the Wheeler Street underpass• Widening of road pavement and bridges• Modifying existing or installing new noise walls in some locations

What to expectOver the coming months you can expect:• Changed traffic conditions on CityLink and local roads to allow for safe work areas, such as reduced

speed limits and lane widths on the freeway• Partial lane closures to allow for safe work areas in:

• Winona Grove• The Boulevard

• Temporary closures of pedestrian and bike paths and the Moonee Ponds Creek trail (detours will be put in place):• Footpath between Winona Grove and Morris Reserve• Footpath on Wentworth Avenue• Trail near Wallace Crescent• Wheeler Street underpass• Brentwood Avenue overpass

• Minor shift of the Moonee Ponds Creek trail under the Pascoe Vale Road outbound exit ramp to enable construction works for the new Bell Street bridge

• Small work crews in various locations• Construction works on your side of the noise wall that may at times involve noisy plant and equipment

during the day, such as machinery required for vegetation trimming and clearing, or excavators preparing access tracks or work zones

• Construction works on CityLink• Some noise associated with construction works including the removal of existing barriers on CityLink if

demolition is required• Some construction vehicles using local roads to access our work sites where we cannot safely access

from within the corridor• Delivery of plant, equipment and materials to our work sites• During peak construction periods we may require additional workers who may need to use on-street

parking in local streets near the site facilities.

We are committed to keeping residents informed and minimising the inconvenience during construction, while keeping the community and our workers safe at all times. Managing and protecting the environment is also important to us and we are working in conjunction with local and state environmental laws to ensure the natural ecosystem is not affected by works.
