Day Four - (Return to the Shores of Beautiful Lake Garda)   B

Lake Garda - Sirmione  – Garda

Today begins with a free morning and lunch on the southern shore of Lake

Garda in Sirmione. Here guests can enjoy the morning/early afternoon in

this very pretty and lively fortified town, which was a very important

location in Roman times and is now a favourite holiday area for

international tourists and wealthy local Veronesi. After our free morning

and lunch in Sirmione we head up to the namesake of Lake Garda, the town

of Garda itself. Here you can spend time strolling through this quaint

lakeside town and enjoying some lakeside drinks prior to returning to Ca'

dei Maghi in preparation for heading off to Emilia Romagna tomorrow.

Day Five – (Il Borghetto, Mantua & Emilia Romagna - a Foodie's Paradise!)

B Transition Day - Borghetto sul Mincio - Mantua - Reggio Emilia.

Today we say goodbye to Lake Garda and the beautiful Valpolicella wine

region, and make our way to the foodie paradise of Emilia Romagna!

Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma and Aceto Balsamico are the 3

most famous products of this region. Emilia Romagna is well known

amongst Italians as a region where one simply eats well or "Dove si mangia

bene!" Before we arrive at our next lodging, Reggio Emilia's Hotel Posta

(Italy's oldest continuously- operated hotel), we soak up the ambience of

Borghetto sul Mincio, a charming town that literally straddles the Mincio

river. Characterised by its traditional water mills, the town now presents a

perfect opportunity for guests to enjoy a couple of hours of free time and

lunch, as we break up our journey down to Reggio Emilia. Following our stop

in Borghetto, we will spend a few hours exploring the delights of nearby

Mantua. Mantua is a UNESCO world Heritage site and is particularly

famous for its architectural treasures and artifacts, elegant palaces, and

medieval and Renaissance cityscape. Mantua's historical power under the

influence of the Gonzaga family has made it one of the main artistic,

cultural and musical hubs of Northern Italy and the country as a whole.

Upon our evening arrival at Reggio Emilia guests can enjoy a free evening

mixing it with the locals in lively Reggio, with its great choices of eateries

on offer.

world’s oldest University. The city of Bologna is a fascinating place to spend

some free time to explore its numerous sites and experience its lovely

atmosphere. It is one of Italy’s most liveable cities and is a centre of cultural

excellence. Historically, the city was characterised by its towers (at its peak in

the 12th to 13th Century there were up to 180 of them), and it even has its own

place to spend some free time meandering through its classy streets and lanes

perusing the wares in the smaller shops, and also the abundance of food that

is on offer at its local cafes and trattorias. There is also an option this morning

for guests to take up a walking tour of Parma prior to our provided lunch, to

Pavarotti's Musuem/Farmhouse!)   B  L

Modena - Pavarotti Museum - Free evening

"..great gastronomic centres, the creative force behind real balsamic vinegar,

giant tortellini stuffed with tantalising fillings, sparkling Lambrusco wine and

backstreets crammed with some of the best restaurants no one's ever heard

of." Our Provided lunch in Modena will be at the Massimo Bottura owned

"Franceschetta58" known locally as Osteria Francescana's "little cousin".

After lunch we stop off at the inspiring former country home, and now

Tour Accommodation

Hotel Ca' Dei Maghi (Valpolicella,Veneto)

Hotel Posta (Reggio Emilia, Emilia Romagna)

Agriturismo Cavazzone  (Viano, Emilia Romagna)

This historic hotel (Italy's longest continuously operated - 500 years in 2015!) is located right in the

heart of Reggio Emilia's historic centre. The buzz of this lively city can be felt immediately upon

exiting the main entrance of the hotel. Importantly, as the city centre is a traffic free zone that buzz

doesn't include motor vehicle noise!  All rooms in this majestic building are tasteful and clean and also

have en suites.

Immersed in Veneto's famous Valpolicella wine region, Hotel Ca' dei Maghi is a small family owned and

operated winery, restaurant and small hotel. All rooms are very well appointed, very clean and have

their own en suites. Some double rooms also have delightful views of the gorgeous surrounding

countryside!

The family owned and operated Agriturismo Cavazzone sits high above the city of Reggio Emilia

and offers sunset views from the grounds that are truly to die for! The farmhouse is a site for

Balsamic Vinegar production and has a stunning vinegar storage loft and a fascinating centuries'

old ice room/cellar. The rooms are quaint, clean and very comfortable and all have en suites. The

restaurant also serves up scrumptious traditional local fare!

                        Owners of Italian Delights Tours

Jim and Lynette are passionate travellers and both have proud Italian backgrounds. They have an

extremely close affinity with Italy, after having lived there with their children for 2 years from 2005.

Put simply Lynette and Jim love all things Italian! They have developed Italian Delights tours over

the past 10 years or so, based on their sound knowledge of what intrepid small group travellers (both

singles and couples) are looking for in their guided Italian experiences. On the top of Jim and

Lynette's priority list for prospective guests is ensuring that their small group tours are exactly

that - genuine small group tours! Italian Delights Tours have a maximum group size of 14 guests and

the average group size is between 5-7 guests. Within a small group guests are able to blend into

local life better and as a result really feel immersed in the Italian life and culture. Also, and most

importantly, in our small groups guests are very well looked after from the first point of contact to

our final goodbye. All guests really need to do whilst on tour is relax and enjoy their experiences!

Italian Delights Tours provide guests with a genuine, intimate and informal experience of Italy,

covering its culture, food, wine, and stunning natural landscapes. All accommodation and eateries

are handpicked by Jim and Lynette and are nearly all family-run small businesses, where the

proprietors take pride in their work, because their business is often a legacy that has been passed

down over numerous generations. There is no packing and unpacking of bags every day, or even

every second day. All of the stays on all tours are three nights or longer. There are very few early

morning starts and we tend to take guests out to provided lunches, hence late evenings are rare on

our tours also.

Italian Delights Tours aren't like the usual tours where guests march around following the guide

with the coloured flag at every stop they make. Our experiences allow guests to explore hidden

places in their own time, and importantly also at their pace. We have developed itineraries for

independent exploration of towns, and we offer optional guided tours on certain days of the tours

for those seeking more detailed information about some of the fascinating places that we visit.

Contact us now at [email protected] for your unique and intimate Italian tour

experience. We guarantee you won't be disappointed!
