By Frank Coone}-Lake Placid Olympic Com
mittee (LPOC) Executive Director Rev. Bernard Fell, explained the Olympic Ski Jump construction schedule to Governor Hugh Carey at the Intervales site on Monday, September 29th with LPOC member and Olympic Ski Jumper Art Devlin on hand.
The Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee set the weather dial at sunny and
balmy last Monday to host Governor Carey and the governor complimented them by arriving in a happy and relaxed mood. The gov-enor was the epitome of the Irish politician, as he smiled, shook hands and bantered with construction workers and Olympic officials. As he accepted the Olympic tankard presented him by LPOC President Ron MacKenzie, he kidded, "If you present one of these to each member
, of,ray family, 0>e.ha^.^,^ children) then the Olympics " may still be on schedule, but they wHl not be within budget."
The governor looked, slim and tanned, as he spoke to a gathering bejpy tfie vhtigf slope where the^fielathouse is under construction, % j p ^ . "You.see the outfdqzjejr vwjtf*" fag behind us, and that is as it should be/ whje fore, politicians are talking, somebody else is working.'*
