ALGUNOS PRINCIPIOS.
Una rampa de frenado es un dispositivo
destinado a salvar vidas. Tomando en
cuenta que el conductor de un vehículo
fuera de control por falla en su sistema de
frenos no se encuentra apto para tomar
decisiones o realizar acciones complejas,
es importante considerar el diseño de una

el mayor número de accidentes
asociados con la falla de frenos,
ya que éste es un sitio de la pen-

rampa de frenado, incluyendo su
señalización, de tal forma que brinde
las condiciones necesarias para que
el conductor conozca su existencia,
entienda las maniobras que debe
realizar, y sienta confianza y
seguridad al ingresar en ella, al
abandonar el flujo vehicular. Con
esto se entiende que este dispositivo
va dirigido a los conductores,
principalmente de vehículos de carga
y de pasajeros.
La clave del éxito radica en la
eficiencia para construir y mantener
en buen estado este tipo de
mecanismos, contando con un
señalamiento claro y sencillo, que
guie al conductor hacia la rampa de
frenado, para lo cual se mencionan a
continuación algunas recomendacio-
nes de diseño.
En cuanto a la ubicación, es
preciso tomar en cuenta las

SOME PRINCIPLES.
A braking ramp is a devise destined to save lives.
Taking into account that the driver of an out of
control vehicle due to a failure in the braking
system is not able to make decisions or realize
complex actions, its extremely important in
considering the design of s braking ramp, including
its signalization, in order for it to give the necessary
conditions for the driver to know of its existence,
understand the maneuvers that he must do, and feel
the confidence and security of entering in it and not
continue on the traffic flow. With this it is
understood that the devise is directed towards the
driver, principally freight and passenger.

NEWSLETTER.
With these results it is obvious that, in downhill
trams of considerable length, it is necessary to
construct a series of ramps to capture the highest
number of out of control vehicles.
From this that it sustained grades higher than 5 %
on highway trams is justified along with lengths
greater than 5 kilometers and through which heavy
vehicles will travel, be it freight or passenger
vehicles.
In the measure that the interest for the construction
of braking ramps has grown, with it also has grown
the need to know hoe to design these type of
devices in order for their use ot be efficient; for
example, in which places it is necessary, of what
length and grade should they have, what materials
are the ones that best function on the braking bed
and which maintenance procedures are the
necessary.

The key to success strives in the efficiency to
construct and maintain in good state these type of
mechanisms, counting with a clear and simple
signage that will guide the driver towards the
braking ramp, and for this following next, some
design recommendations are mentioned.
About the site, it is necessary to take into account
the following considerations:
Place it in a previous point to the site where
the most number of accidents related with
brake failure has been registered, since this is
a place where the grade will permit to
intercept the most quantity of trucks out of
control.
Construct it before a horizontal curve that can
not be confronted in a safe way by an out of
control vehicle.
