Lord our God,
We praise you for your
Son, Jesus Christ:
He is Emmanuel, the hope
of the peoples,
He is the wisdom that
teaches and guides us,
He is the Savior of every
nation.
Lord God,
Let your blessing come upon
us as we light the candles
of this wreath.
May the wreath and its light
be a sign of Christ’s
promise to bring us
salvation.
May He come quickly and
not delay.
We ask this through Christ
our Lord. Amen.

A Family Perspective from the Domestic Church Core Team: Third
Sunday of Advent: Today’s gospel tells us to SHARE! This Christmas resist the pressure
to give token gifts. Instead, use those funds to give necessities to the poor. If your
impoverished brothers and sisters are not on our gift list, we’ve missed the point of
Christmas!
Tax Credits are still available through the Our Faith School Tuition Organization
(STO), but they are filling up fast for 2015. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. Give the
gift of school choice this Christmas season. Give to the STO. Visit www.Our
FaithSto.org or call 800-876-3546 ext. 289 or 307 to learn more.
The Advent Giving Tree still has quite a number of ornaments on it. Please
consider taking one, buying the gift indicated, and returning it wrapped and with the
ornament securely attached to it. They need to be returned to the Tree or to the parish
office by December 16. Thanks for your generosity to the poor in our
Dubuque community.
Please no saving pew seats at our Christmas Eve Masses. Thank YOU!
December 13, 2015
Dear Parishioners,
On this Third Sunday of Advent, we “Rejoice—The Lord Jesus is
near!” If you are feeling artistic, express this joyful spirit with the
special color of rose—rose colored vestments, rose colored third
candle and decorations! If people stop you and ask why do you
look and smell like a rose, tell them, “Rejoice—The Lord Jesus is
near!”
Fr. Hilary is offering the powerful Healing Sacrament of the
Anointing of the Sick, so that you may be happy and healthy for
the Holy Days of Advent and Christmas. This weekend at St. Jo-
seph the Worker at all Masses Dec. 12 & 13 with the help of Fr.
Dennis Miller; and next weekend at St. Columbkille at all Masses
Dec. 19 & 20 with the help of Msgr. Russ Bleich. Let us celebrate
this Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy as we prepare to receive Jesus, Our
Savior, with joy!
Blessings upon you,
Fr. Gabriel
