Dear Parishioners,
St. Paul gives us another good reflection on allowing God to
work in our lives. St. Paul tells the Roman community that they
no longer live according to the flesh. By “the flesh,” St. Paul is
talking about this world. It is something that we can reflect on for
ourselves. How focused are we on the things of this world?
By our Baptism, the Holy Spirit dwells in us, so God can work in
our lives. But we can affect that, if we focus on the things of this
world, God will not be able to work on our lives. When we fill up
our lives by the things that this world promises: wealth, power,
pleasure; then there will not be any space where God can be
present to us. The world promises us these things to distract us
from our Baptismal call to relationship with God.
In order to be good Christians, we cannot fail to the promises of
the world. The promise that God gives us (Eternal Life in heaven)
is something far greater than anything that the world/the flesh can
promise.
Many thanks and God bless,
Fr. Davis
