Dear Parishioners,
What are you doing this summer? Fishing, swimming, playing and praying?
The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus! A perfect time for
praying to Our Lord and Savior and being His heart-felt love in this world.
“From among all the proofs of the infinite goodness of our Savior none
stands out more prominently than the fact that, as the love of the faithful grew
cold, He, Divine Love itself, gave Himself to us to be honored by a very special
devotion and that the rich treasury of the Church was thrown wide open in the
interests of that devotion.” - Pope Pius XI refers to the Sacred Heart Devotion,
which was given by Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1673-1675.
As in today’s Gospel, Jesus’ love is so great, He is moved with pity for us. He
gives life back to the son of the widow of Nain. Perhaps he felt the very sorrows
of His Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, who was a widow and who would also
see the death of her only Son. Let us respond to this request of ourselves and
all that belongs to us, to make reparation for our ingratitude to God. Let’s
honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus by sharing His mercy to all we meet.
Have a wonderful, joyful and prayer-filled summer vacation!
Blessings upon your family,
Fr. Gabriel

Vocations Corner—June 5, 2016
The Vocations Committee invites you to pray for Vocations, especially those to Priesthood
or Religious Life!
“What Are You Looking For?”
When we read scripture we hear God’s voice because it is the very Word of God. In light
of this, we would like to propose the following passage for your consideration: The next
day John was there again with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he
said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” The two disciples heard what he said and followed
Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, “What are you looking
for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher), “Where are you
staying?” He said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was
staying, and they stayed with him that day.” — John 1:35-39
Points for you to reflect upon:
1. Jesus saw them following—this should give us confidence that Jesus notices us and that
he is aware of us and our needs. He simply waits for us to desire to truly follow Him and
when this happens He will speak to our hearts.
2. He asks them directly “what are you looking for?” How often do we take the time to
look into our own hearts and seek to discover what we truly long for? Most of us would
agree that we look to be loved, cherished, and accepted. Jesus wants us to think about
what we are looking for, so that we will see that He is the answer to our longings.
3. They answer by asking to remain with Him. Remain close to the Lord to fulfill your
call and obtain what your heart desires.
