    Hubbell Parkingstand Lightning Arresters are gapless, metal oxide varistor (MOV) surge arresters.They are designed to provide shielded, dead-ront arrester protection or 15 kV undergroundsystems. Hubbell Parkingstand Lightning Arresters limit over-voltages to acceptable levels, protectingequipment and extending lie.

    The critical values or arresters are the discharge voltage (IR) and the IEEE Std. 386 interace class. Ingeneral, the lower the discharge voltage, the better the protection margin. Hubbell parking standarresters are non-ragmenting and they ully conorm to the sae-ailure mode per IEEE Std. C62.11.The standard requires that should the arrester blocks ail they will not be ejected through the bodyor side wall o the housing. The MOV blocks should exit out the bottom, down and away romequipment and personnel.

    Parkingstand Lightning Arrester

    Application:

    Hubbell Parkingstand Lightning Arresters contain a 200 amp loadbreak interace that conormsto IEEE Std. 386 Fig 5 (15kV). A Hubbell arrester installed at the end o a radial system or at bothends o an open point in a loop circuit will provide excellent protection against high voltage surgesresulting rom lightning or switching. When combined with an Ohio Brass PVR (Riser Pole) arrester,optimum protection can be achieved. They are ully shielded and submersible, either continuously orintermittently, to a depth o 6 eet (2m).

    Installation:

    The Hubbell Parkingstand Lightning Arrester should be installed utilizing a shotgun type hotstick.

    Performance Characteristics

    Tests were perormed in accordance with applicable sections o IEEE Std. C62.11 (Metal Oxide SurgeArresters or Alternating Current Power Circuits) with test levels chosen that represent typicalunderground distribution systems.

    Features:

    The insulating rubber body consists o peroxide-cured EPDM rubber that oers reliability and

    the molded shield consists o conductive peroxide-cured EPDM that meets the requirements oIEEE Std. 592 or exposed semi-conducting shields. The drain wire tab provides a contact pointto attach a #14 ground wire to ensure the shield is at ground potential and maintains deadrontconstruction. The berglass wrap ensures that the MOV block stack (same MOV blocks ound inOhio Brass overhead arresters) remains in one piece and prevents the blocks rom breaching theside wall should the arrester ail. An ID band around the body o the arrester provides clear visualidentication o arrester MCOV and duty cycle ratings. The fexible lead is #4 AWG copper ropelay conductor, eaturing a soldered end to prevent raying. A 36 inch length is standard, however,other lead lengths are available.
