Keep up the great work. I also spent considerable time visiting classrooms observing the high standard of teaching and learning that is taking place. I presented Principals Awards (stickers) to two students, from each class, who have made pleasing progress in Term 4. I observed KS who were discussing their Home Reading Program and gave awards to both Bo and Joao. In KD they were learning about their Currumbin Excursion and awards went to Levi and Leila. KC were doing literacy rotations and awards went to Max and Zenan. KP were participating in mathematics rotations and awards were given to Max and Olive. KM were involved in talking and listening activities based on a mystery item and awards were presented to Lawson, Kai and Tahlia. Congratulations to these students, keep up the good work. Each class was a pleasure to be in. Public Speaking Competition Congratulations to all the finalists who spoke at the Stage One and Two public speaking finals last Wednesday. Play Time For the last two weeks we have trialled taking a different stage to the recreational fields each day for the lunch break. For the next two weeks we are trialling keeping everyone on site and making adjustments to our play areas.

Planning for 2019 We have commenced our planning and organisation for 2019. If you know that your child/ren won’t be attending our school in 2019, with the exception of Year 6 students, could you please inform the office. Similarly, if you are aware of any students moving into our area who will be attending our school in 2019, please ask the families to make contact with the school. We need this information to form classes for next year. Also, if you are having an extended holiday and your child/ren will not be back at school on the first day, please let us know in writing before the end of the year.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) This week’s focus is about respecting adults. Students are participating in activities explicitly teaching and reminding them about appropriate ways of interacting with adults including listening respectfully, following instructions and how to speak to adults so that their voice is heard. Last week, I attended the NSW Anti-bullying Strategy Conference in Sydney for 2 days. On Friday 3 of our teachers, 4 students and a parent attended the NSW Anti-bullying Strategy 2018 Regional Workshop in Ballina. We will be sharing the knowledge and information gained from highly regarded researchers and educators to help strengthen our school’s anti-bullying plan in the coming weeks.

Sean’s Trip to State So it’s the first day at the State Championships and today I’m doing discus. So my first practice throw I did pretty well, then every throw after that got a bit worse, but I made it into the top 8. Then I came 4th which was a bit disappointing. The next day came and then it was the last day and shot-put was my next event. So up came my practice throw and I did ok. My throws kept on getting better and I made it into the top 8 again. My next throws were really bad, I thought. When we were waiting for the results I asked can we go and I said I doubt that I got in to the top 3. The lady checked the results and I came second. I waited around for the presentation, after telling my dad and then we left to go home, very happy. By Sean
