BYOD Implementation Plan 8 th Grade By: Alicia Durden There is not a BYOD policy listed for Bulloch County Schools, however there is a BYOD policy listed for Gwinnett County Schools. It would be most appropriate because my students are already familiar with the workings of Microsoft word so they would not have a problem using the program. Also OneNote is available for free and can work on multiple devices. Students that do not have their own devices can rent from the library, borrow one of my devices (tablet, iPhone, or MacBook), or if many students are without, then they could work in partners. With the Apps that are quick games, I would prefer students to work individually because in pairs or groups, the only person benefiting is the person playing the game. If it was an app presentation, I would let students work in pairs or teams watching the presentation, ask each other questions if they don’t understand, and compare notes at the end.

Math Ref has a large database of resources for students. It has cheat sheets on various topics that can be used as refreshers of previous knowledge.

GeoBoard works exactly like the hands but without having to purchase the boards or have rubber bands flying everywhere.

Isosceles works much like geometers sketchpad where students can create shapes and inscribe circles, drop altitudes and find midpoints to better understand geometry.

Algebra Touch works like a game you solve equations by moving the numbers and the app shows you the correct sign and operation to use finally it will simplify the numbers for you.

Numblr is an equation version of scrabble you have to import correct equations from your limited supply of operations and numbers, and you get more points for larger equations.

Factor Samuri is a quick game to see if students can recognize the composite numbers amongst the primes. If you see a composite you slice it and it becomes the numbers factors. Be careful some numbers have more than two factors and need to be sliced again.

Apps:
