By: Austin W. Timberfest is named after Grant
County's timber business. The first Timberfest was held in 1984. In 1995 they added the lumberjack games.
Timberfest events: ● Parade Sat. at 8:45 a.m. ● J.T. Davis memorial car and
motorcycle show ● 5K Run Sat at 8:00 a.m. ● Bow shoot from 11:00 a.m.-3:00
p.m. ● K-9 Fun show (Dog Contest) ● Pinewood Derby from 10:45
a.m.- 11:45 a.m. ● Lumberjack Competition

Timberfest 5K
By: Brayden W. Hi I am Brayden, and I want to tell you about my experience in the
Sheridan Timberfest 5k. Running in the 5k was a great experience
because I love running, and I had always wanted to run in a 5K. It is also very good exercise. So, if you are interested in running, come to
Malvern National Bank at 7:45 a.m. to get registered.

-Walking Safety .Cross the streets and corners using traffic signals and crosswalks .Look both ways before crossing .Always walk on sidewalks or paths
-Trick or Treat with an Adult .Have a parent or guardian with you on Halloween .Check your candy carefully before eating - Have a great Halloween!

Red Ribbon Week will be October 24-28. Our theme this year is “I
Believe In Me…. Healthy And Drug Free!” We will be dressing up
everyday for this event. Find out below what we will wear Monday
through Friday.
● Mon- as much red as possible!
● Tues - a shirt of your favorite
Superhero(s)
● Wed - boots and western gear
● Thurs- camo/animal print
● Fri- wear our school colors
Student numbers will be called in the
afternoon. If your number is called,
you will receive a prize from your
teacher. Also, your teacher and
classroom will have the option to
decorate your door. The winning
class will get an extra recess and the
teacher will get an sonic card!
Activity Action!
By: Lauren I. Welcome back to the Monthly Sting for Activity. In Music, the kids will be
working on the Veterans’ Day Program. The kids will be exciting to hear that we will be square dancing. Mrs. Mosley will be teaching rhythm
and all about history in Music! In P.E., students will also be working on the Veterans’ Day program along with Mrs.Mosley. If you like Reflex Math,
students 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are doing it. Sixth grade will be doing
typing club. In Art, we will be participating in the Duck Stamp
Contest. Kids will also be learning about artist statements and
presenting artwork. If you love to read, in Library, we will be doing the Charlie May Simon and the Diamond Awards. I hope you are all excited to
hear all this news!

Thriving Third By Austin W.
In Science, the third grade will be graphing data about the weather,
temperature, and rainfall. Also in Social Studies, they will be discussing
economics- Wants vs. Needs, globalization,and responsible banking. In Math, they will be
learning multiplication strategies, place value, and rounding. In English, they will be learning character traits, character motivations, how to write a good paragraph, the functions of
nouns, verbs, adjectives, and pronouns. This is what the third grade will be learning about this
October.
Fantastic Fourth

fantastic for the fourth graders. In English and social studies, they will be learning about geography and
doing a research project too. In math, students will practice with
whole numbers and fractions. Science during October will dive into the study of energy. I hope that all
the fourth graders enjoy the month of October with their teachers.
Famous Fifth grade

He wanted a higher education!! In math, the fifth grade will be doing
powers of 10 and understanding adding/subtracting decimals . In
science, they will be learning about scientific method . In Mrs .McGinley’s class will be watching eggs hatch ! In
social studies, they will be doing a Native American lapbook report.
Writing personal narratives will be the topic in English. Students will also
be reading Blood on the River, and they will be learning about
colonization .
Super Sixth
By: Emerson G. This month the super sixth grade of
SIS will be having a fun month of learning! To start in literacy, the super sixth grade will be reading
aloud The Crossing by Gary Paulsen! In math, we are continuing
to learn about those ratios! The Super Sixth Grade are becoming scientists! They will be learning
about types of energy and converting energy! In Social Studies,
we will be studying the election process and exploring Ancient
Egypt and Israel!
