PARTICIPATORY PROGRAMS

Q the MusicModeled after El Sistema, Q the Music offers free daily instruction in string instruments at Ruskin Elementary, a Dayton Public School. Students in grades 3 through 6 receive academic tutoring and group lessons in their instrument and participate in orchestra rehearsals daily after school.

Youth OrchestrasThe three youth orchestras of the Alliance provide opportunities for talented middle- and high-school musicians. The Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the third-oldest youth orchestra in the country, features high-school students, while Youth Strings welcomes students in grades 6 through 12 and Junior Strings includes students in grades 4 through 8.

Dayton Ballet SchoolThe school’s mission is to provide the finest dance training to any child or adult who seeks to experience the wonder, athleticism, and fun of dance. Starting at age 3, children and adults participate in classes and master classes and often perform in Dayton Ballet’s The Nutcracker, as well as other performances.
