False Doctrines about Grace
3
• Give comfort and cover to sin, Jude 4• Example: “You can never be good
enough to earn yourself a home in heaven.” (Nobody here says you can!)
– False comfort to a Christian: “Sin no longer affects your eternal life in Christ.”
– False cover for sin: “Nobody’s perfect” and “everybody sins…”
– Truth: Sin brings death! Rom. 6:21-23

the gift of salvation (mercy and love)–Through faith: The sinner’s faith,
produced by the gospel (Rom. 10:17)–Not of yourselves: Salvation is God’s
gift, not man’s meritorious expectation
