Electromagnetic Spectrum

The electromagnetic wave spectrum is a chart showing the order of wave frequencies from smallest to biggest.

The electromagnetic spectrum goes from low frequencies used for modern radio to gamma radiation at the short-wavelength end, covering wavelengths from thousands of kilometers down to a fraction of the size of an atom.

Examples of Electromagnetic Spectrum

Radio waves- T.V.

Microwaves- Radar or GPS

Infra Red- Military use it to detect body heat

Visible light- Light from a lamp

UV Rays- The suns rays

X-rays- An x-ray machine

Gamma Rays- Power plant

Transparent

Transparency is when an object allows light to pass through it .

This is a physical property.Transparent materials look clear, overall you

see one color, or any combination leading up to a brilliant spectrum of every color.

Translucent

Translucent materials allow light to pass through but not clearly.

Also a physical propertyThey seem clear but have the overall look of

one color or a combination of colors making a color spectrum of every color.

Can’t be seen through clearly.

Opaque

An Opaque material doesn’t allow light to pass through.

There are two different processes that lead to making materials opaque; Reflection and Absorption.
