• In today’s lesson we began to look at the new project we were going to begin and we had to create a mind map of the different tasks we had to do within the project and the deadlines we had and how many lessons we have to do each task.

•Friday 14th September 2012

Page 3: By Sandy Merheb

• In todays lesson we began to do our initial plan. We had to write down all the tasks we had to do and we had to type the dates each task was going to be started and when the planned end date is and whether we did it in class or at home or both and the contingency time as well.

•Wednesday 19th September 2012

Wednesday 3rd October 2012

In todays lesson I had to go over my initial plan and check that all my dates were put in and that I had to save it as ‘on-going plan’ so then throughout the course I can make changes to it and adjust the dates

Friday 12th October 2012In todays lesson we began our Wild care

database. I used the DIDA website to give me the codes for the database and then we had to write in the field names and data types and field in the validation rules.

I created a database and I put all the appropriate field names and there relevant data type. These field names were provided on the Dida website.

Page 6: By Sandy Merheb

I then changed the field sixe because there is too much capacity and it doesn’t need that much and so we reduce it because the data isn't that much.

For some of the field names like ‘Group’ Status’ and threat’ I did look up wizard for these 3 field names because each one has certain data so this means I can put the data that is required for that field name and a drop down box will come up and the right one can be selected

Page 7: By Sandy Merheb

When I click on the lookup wizard I press ‘I will type in the values that I want’ which then allows me to type in the data that will come up for the field name in a drop down box

Page 8: By Sandy Merheb

Then I type in the data that will be put on the drop down box

Then I labelled what I want for my lookup field.

Page 9: By Sandy Merheb

Then we had to type in a validation rule so people can only type in the data we want, the acceptable data we don’t want them to write any random thing we can only have the genres that are acceptable.

The validation text shows that the data inserted is wrong and says what the right data that should be inserted should be.

Page 10: By Sandy Merheb

The field name is ‘Name of species’ and the relevant data type is

‘text’

I changed the field size from 255 to 45 because then we have extra that doesn’t need to be used in the database, when you reduce it there wont be a lot of data.

Page 11: By Sandy Merheb

The field name is ‘Group’ and the relevant data type is text

I reduced the field size to 25 because I know that the data will only be bird/insect or Mammal or fish or reptile/amphibian so I know that 25 is enough otherwise there’s too much capacity

The validation rule is so that people can only enter the data that is required and if not then the validation text will come up asking to enter the correct data

Page 13: By Sandy Merheb

When I have pressed the external data and pressed text file this will come up and I browse where the data is I want to import.

This is where I got my data from, Resources/ ICT/Mrs Hidson/11IOTA.

Then you click Append a copy of the records to the table, so that the data is imported into the Field names you had put. And it doesn’t import onto another database.

The data will come up then I press finish or next but I pressed finish and eventually the data will come onto the database that I had set up for the data to be imported in.

When you have pressed finish then the data will come up in the table I had made and each data will go under each field name.

Wednesday 7th November 2012In todays lesson we started our data entry form, we had to create a data entry form and make it look more appealing so I changed the font, colour and I added the Wild care Trust logo. I then added the 3 new endangered animals to the form and I made sure that ‘threat’ and ‘Status’ and ‘Group’ had an arrow so that the person can see the other options, I had to add buttons and had to make sure that I had the codes for ‘Threat’ and ‘Status’ so that they know what each code stands for.

Page 15: By Sandy Merheb

Data Entry Form

Page 16: By Sandy Merheb

To create my buttons I clicked on ‘Create’ and then clicked on the button shaped and then I created a button for saved records and add records and quit app these three buttons are at the bottom of my data type form

I have added my 3 different species into my data

Page 17: By Sandy Merheb
Page 18: By Sandy Merheb

I then created a Form for my Wildcare Trust database. We had to make it colourful and I used my colour scheme in my form. I changed the colour the font the size and the background colour. I had inserted the codes in my data entry form so that the user can see what each of the letter in the code mean

Page 19: By Sandy Merheb

I had to insert two tables with the different codes for the threat and status, I had to make two tables on word and then had to save them as an image and then insert them into the database, so that the person knows what each code means in the database.

Page 20: By Sandy Merheb

I changed the title and I made it look more appealing by changing the font and before it didn’t say anything about the project and I had to change the title

I added the Wild care Trust logo to my form because I think it represents the data well and I think that it shows what the data is going to be used for

I made sure that the drop down boxes are there because the person has to know what other options there are for each and the codes is there to help show what each code is used for

I made sure that there are buttons so that it is easier for the user to access the data

Page 21: By Sandy Merheb

Friday 30th November 2012

• In todays lesson I had to check over my database and my evidence to check that I had met all the criteria and I had to make some changes and make sure that I had all the things that was needed in the data entry form and in my database to ensure that I can get full marks for it, I also got feedback from my peers to see what I needed to include.

Page 22: By Sandy Merheb

Wednesday 19th December 2012 In todays lesson we started and completed our spread sheets ’12 Month Cash

Forecast For WildCare 2013.

Page 23: By Sandy Merheb

This is the information that I have to insert into the spread sheet. I have to make sure that the information that I insert is correct and that I make sure that the data is put into the correct months.

Page 24: By Sandy Merheb

To find out the total cost of the platinum membership you multiply the number and the cost and I did that by seeing the what square the number was and pressed =B5*C5 which was the square where the cost was and that’s how I got the total of platinum memberships

Page 25: By Sandy Merheb

Instead of typing in each multiplication for each membership I go to the side of the box with total amount for platinum and then I scroll it all the way down to the total of the wildcare Kids and then all the total amounts will come up for each memberships.

Page 26: By Sandy Merheb

From this data I can insert all the correct information into the correct cells throughout the spreadsheet. For the first half of the spread sheet I need to put the data for the ‘Memberships(Jan Only)’ and ‘Research grants(Jan Only) and ‘Adoptions (monthly)’ and then I worked out the total for each and then the total for the whole month.

Page 27: By Sandy Merheb

The membership is for only January so therefore so I went to the total membership fees and inserted it into the January cell because on the data it says (Jan only) so the rest of the month wont have any money to get the value of £0.00 I dragged it along until the total and this showed that in all the other months it had no value and the total was added up. To get the total in the cell where January is and typed in =D10 which is the cell where the total is.

Page 28: By Sandy Merheb

I had to find the data for research grants so that I could insert it into the cell and that is only applied for in January so the other months have no value so when I drag it along the values for every month and the values will be ‘£0.00’ because the research grants only apply for January.

Page 29: By Sandy Merheb

Friday 11th January 2013

For adoption months I have to see from the data what the adoptions is then I have to insert it into each month. The quickest way for me to do that is to put the amount into January and drag it along throughout the cells and the values will come up in all the months and in the total cell and the total of all the months for Adoptions will total up. I had to type into the January cell for adoptions‘ =‘ and then click on the data that was for adoptions monthly and then had to click on and press enter then it will come up and then I have to click on the space where it shows the formula and press F4.I had to do absolute cell referencing this means that it copies along all the cells the same data from the first cell which means that all the rest of the cells won’t have the £0.00 value in it.

Page 30: By Sandy Merheb

To find out the total income for each month I typed into the cell for total income for January =SUM(B14:B17) which will add up all the Memberships, research grants and adoptions. Then I dragged it along all the cells for Total Income and that gives me the Total Income for all the months and their totals

Page 31: By Sandy Merheb

To work out the salaries for each month, I had to check the costs data to see what the salaries was for each month which is 29250 for each month and then I had to do absolute cell referencing this means that it copies along all the cells the same data from the first cell which means that all the rest of the cells won’t have the £0.00 value in it. T o do this I had to press the ‘=‘ and then click on the data where salaries and that would insert the data and then I press F4 so that would then make a copy of the same thing in all the cells.

Page 32: By Sandy Merheb

For the Administration Costs I could see that the data that had to be inserted into the cell was 6490 and then to out that into the cell I have to press ‘=‘ and then enter and that would insert the data into the January column and to copy that into the other months I have to absolute cell reference which then meant I had to press F4 into the formula box and this would then mean it would copy the data to all the months and it wont give a £0.00 value like it would if I had dragged it along.

Page 33: By Sandy Merheb

For the rent I checked on the cost as it says that the data for that is 12876 and only applies for the months January, April, July and October. I did absolute cell referencing which then allowed me to copy the cost into each month. I did this by clicking into the January box and pressing ‘=‘ and then going onto the costs data and clicking on the relevant data which is Rent and then press F4 which will then allow me to copy the data into each month without the value being £0.00.

Page 34: By Sandy Merheb

Wednesday 16th January 2013 For utilities I have to go onto

the cost sheet and then see the cost for utilities and its ‘985’ and then I go onto the January cell and press ‘=‘ and click onto the cost and press Enter then the cost will come up in January. I then had to do absolute cell referencing this then allows me to copy the cost into all the cells in the row without the value turning to £0.00

Page 35: By Sandy Merheb

From the cost sheet I can see that the cost for food is 1200 and so therefore to insert this into the cell for January and to copy this into the other months and to do this I had to use absolute cell referencing, to do that I had to press ‘=‘ in the January cell and then I had to go onto the cost sheet and press the food cost and to copy this value of ‘1200’ I had to press F4 in the formula box and this will then allow me to copy the same value to all the months.

Page 36: By Sandy Merheb

For the veterinary cost I know that the cost for it 5000 I know this from the cost sheet. The veterinary cost is for all of the months so therefore I have to have the same value for each of the months. To make sure that the value is copied into each of the months I have to do absolute cell referencing, this ensures that the value is copied into each of the cells for each month. To do this I have to press ‘=‘

Page 37: By Sandy Merheb

For the publicity I could see that from the costs sheet that the publicity costs ‘1500’ so I had to make sure that this value is inserted into each cell for each month. I have to make sure that the value of 1500 is repeated in all of the cells so I have to copy it into each cell without the value changing to ‘0’ so to make sure that the value is correct in each cell I have to do absolute referencing. I had to press ‘=‘ in the cell of the month of January and then clicked on the value of publicity on the cost sheet and then F4 on the formula box so this made sure that the value is copied into each cell correctly so then you drag the value along the cells and this will ensure that the value is the same.

Page 38: By Sandy Merheb

The Total Outgoings is the total of each of the months and all total paid for each of the months and when the first month’s total outgoings is done then by dragging the black cross along the other cells then it’s the other outgoings for the other months.

Friday 25th January 2013

This is my research table to show other organisations and the different prices they have for different people and it varies with each organisation. The three I chose were WWF, Marwell Wildlife and ZSL.

Page 46: By Sandy Merheb

WWF is a website to allow people to be able to adopt animals for a minimum of £3 a month, it also has a club for children aged 7-11 years to join and its only for£3 a month and £1.50 if adopting an animal.

Page 47: By Sandy Merheb

In the Marwell wildlife organisation it also allows people to adopt an animal. The have a annual membership which they allow people to join and the costs are quite high for all of the ages for an adult the price for a membership is £56 and for a child between the ages of 3-16 the price is £36 so the cost for a membership at Marwell is quite expensive than the membership at WWF.

Page 48: By Sandy Merheb

In the ZSL the membership prices are good for example the family 1 with one adult and up to 5 children is only £169 its quite a good price for a family. For Family two 2 adults and 5children is £244 which also a reasonable price for a family membership. From my three organisations ZSL is the only organisation that offers a family membership at a reasonable price. For children from ages 3-15 the membership costs £66.25 and under 3’s have a free membership.

Page 49: By Sandy Merheb

Wednesday 30th January 2013

For my first proposal I inserted the values of the membership prices of WWF and it shows that it doesn’t work because the teens price is higher than the Platinum and Gold and Silver and also they are in deficit and they wouldn’t be able to pay for Administration

Page 50: By Sandy Merheb

Goal Seek

I pressed on the cell I want to make the value I needed it to be and so I pressed on the Net Cash Flow

For the value put ‘0’ this is because I am trying to make the Net Cash Flow closest to zero and putting the value zero it will change the prices of the membership so that the New Cash Flow changes to ‘0’

By changing the cell I have to choose one of the membership prices that I want to change so that the Net Cash flow value can be the closest to 0

Page 51: By Sandy Merheb

When using the Goal Seek it changed my membership prices so that the value of the Net Cash Flow’s value is 0. But I could see that from the Goal seek it didn’t work because the price of Teens is higher than platinum, Gold and silver so I have to change the value of teens so that the price is lower. £52.57 isn’t a reasonable amount of money to pay for a membership for teens.

Page 52: By Sandy Merheb

I used goal seek for my final proposal I think this one is the best because the prices are in good range and they are affordable I have the Net Cash Flow value close to 0 and it’s a Surplus.

Page 53: By Sandy Merheb

Membership Card In todays lesson I created my membership card, this will allow the member to be able to adopt an animal and they join the membership and they can then adopt as many animals that they want and they pay monthly for each animal.

Page 54: By Sandy Merheb

Wednesday 13th February • In todays lesson we had to start the leaflet for the wildcare which will tell

the member about the membership and the sort of animals that are endangered and they type of animals they can adopt.

Page 55: By Sandy Merheb

Friday 1st March 2013In todays lesson I began my pack folder, I had to make sure I added everything that was asked for in the criteria and I had to make sure there was a space for my leaflet and my membership card to go in. To do this I had to make sure that the member knew that by adopting a child they are helping this animal from becoming endangered.

Page 56: By Sandy Merheb

The leaflet I have made is to promote the adoption scheme to people, and there is a tear of Adoption form for the person to choose the animal they want to adopt and how they will pay for it. The animals present on this leaflet are animals that are shown in the reports.

Page 57: By Sandy Merheb

In my presentation I had could only have 5 slides an don each slide I had to look at the website to see what the titles for each slide should be. For each other slides I had to get information but making sure that I less sentences on the actual slide and more on the speaker notes. I had to make sure that I included the logo and suitable images also I had to have a master slide this ensured that whatever I put on that slide will appear on all of the rest of the slides on the presentation. On the master slide I put the wildcare Trust logo which would then appear on all the slides and I cannot remove it or adjust the size of it to do this I have to go back to the master slide and then adjust it from there. For the speaker notes I had to put all the extra information on the speaker notes and summarise it on the actual slide. The slide title were: General Information, General Facts, Threats to endangered animals, Teen and Kids membership options and finally Get involved. Some of the information I got from the Wildcare Trust website and then I research on the internet. I got feedback on my work and I was told that I had kept a consistent colour scheme throughout and that it would be easy to identify my work. Also I was told to put less information on my slide so therefore I had put more information into the speaker notes and narrowed down the words on the slides.

Wednesday 6th march 2013

In todays lesson I began and finished my queries and reports from my database I have created 3 reports.

Page 60: By Sandy Merheb

Queries and ReportsFriday 15th March 2013 Query 1

When I have clicked on query design I then click add to the table because with then allow me to work with my Wildcare Trust database so that I can create my queries. When the table is added then all the field names will appear and then I have to double click each one so that they appear on a table below.

Page 61: By Sandy Merheb

The results for my query have to be between 5-15 animals so I had to try putting in some criteria into the criteria box. So for my first query and report I changed the Group of the animal to ‘Reptile/Amphibian’, then I pressed run which will then get all the data that are Reptile/Amphibian in the database. When I just put that criteria in 30 results came up and that is too much and I should only have between 5-15 so therefore I had to add in another criteria so then criteria I added was the status with was ‘Orange’

Page 62: By Sandy Merheb

When I inserted another criteria the results became lower and therefore I was able to use these results for my results. When I pressed run it collected all the data that were ‘Reptile/Amphibian’ and in ‘Orange’ the results were only 5 which was suitable so therefore I had created my first query and this would then allow me to make my report using this data.

Page 63: By Sandy Merheb

Query 2For my second query I did the same thing I added the table and then all the field names came up and I double clicked and then they appear on a table below for me to start putting in my criteria.

Page 64: By Sandy Merheb

For my first criteria I put in was the Group ‘Bird/Insects’ and I pressed run and I got 36 results from the data, the results I should have to be between 5-15 and so therefore I have to add in another criteria to narrow down the data so that I can use it for my report.

Page 65: By Sandy Merheb

The criteria I added in was the location which was Africa. This would then collect all the data that is Bird/insect and are in Africa and give me a result of all the data that has these two criteria. When I pressed run all the results for these criteria came up. Altogether the results was 6 which was a suitable for my report.

Page 66: By Sandy Merheb

Query 3For my third query I used one criteria because it gave me data between 5-15 the criteria was location Australia. To do this I had to do the same thing I did for the other two query's and add the table with the field names and double click them which will appear on a table below which I can then insert my criteria to.

Page 67: By Sandy Merheb

When I pressed run the results from the database for all the animals that are located in Australia and the results showed that there are only 9 animals in the database that are located in Australia.

Page 68: By Sandy Merheb

Reports

When I had clicked on the report button it then automatically made a report for me. I had to adjust it and change the title and the colours of the report so that it suited my colour scheme.

Page 69: By Sandy Merheb

Report 1

This is my first report and this was for the Reptile/Amphibian and in the status Orange and I have to show the readers and present to them in the title what is in the report below. I stuck to my colour scheme throughout my whole project and I used the same in my report. I got feedback from it and I was told that I had kept my consistency throughout and that it was clear and well presented.

Page 70: By Sandy Merheb

I had to do the same for this report as well when i click on report and then it creates a report which I have to customize and make it match my colour scheme and also change the title so I can present it.

Page 71: By Sandy Merheb

Report 2

This is my second report and this was for the Bird/insect in Africa and I have to show the readers and present to them in the title what is in the report below. I stuck to my colour scheme throughout my whole project and I used the same in my report. I got feedback from it and I was told that I had kept my consistency throughout and that it was clear and well presented.

Page 72: By Sandy Merheb

For my last report I did the same as the rest of the reports. When I clicked the report button it automatically makes a report but I need to edit it so that it fits my colour scheme and I need to change the title so that its presentable to the member.

Page 73: By Sandy Merheb

Report 3

This is my first report and this was for the location Australia and I have to show the readers and present to them in the title what is in the report below. I stuck to my colour scheme throughout my whole project and I used the same in my report. I got feedback from it and I was told that I had kept my consistency throughout and that it was clear and well presented.

Page 74: By Sandy Merheb

Wednesday 20th March 2013

In todays lesson I began my mind map for my E-Portfolio I went on the website and I saw what the title for each branch and sub-branch was.

Page 75: By Sandy Merheb
