Gamma Ray Definition

• Gamma rays are electromagnetic radiation emitted by radioactive decay and having energies in a range from ten thousand to ten million electron volts.

• (In English: Gamma rays are super powerful and really energetic.)

What Are Gamma Rays?

• Gamma rays are the most energetic form of light. They come to us from the hottest regions of the universe. If we could see the rays, the night sky would look unfamiliar and pinkish.

Gamma Ray Benefits

• Gamma rays have many benefits. The doctor uses the gamma rays in small doses to kill cancer cells. If the doctor uses too much of a dose, it could kill blood cells or even worse!

Gamma Ray Risks • Gamma rays have many benefits,

but there are a lot of risks, too. If humans come in contact, they can become blind or develop a severe skin condition, as seen below.
