13. WTP Disposition Statement (Attach extra sheets, sketches, etc., as necessary).
In order to accept this deviation, WTP has listed the following correction/modification to the Supplier’s technical justification. The Supplier is to incorporate this SDDR in the document submittal.
a) Add 100% voltage motor starting and fulling load current recording for the motors.
See Attachment 1 (Page 6 of 6) for details.
Does SDDR request an exception/deviation from a code or standard identified in the
WTP Code of Record (24590-WTP-COR-MGT-15-00001) Yes No
WTP Justification (Attach extra sheets, sketches, etc., as necessary).
Is the change associated with a Q SSC? Yes No
Does the change reduce margin? Yes No
Provide calculation or MAJ (number and revision): N/A Rev N/A
Justification
Supplier’s proposed no load testing of the motors is acceptable due to the physical configuration of the sump pumps, in which the pump and motor share the same casing. This configuration does not allow for standalone testing of the motors. The motors can only be tested after they are assembled with the pumps. A short no-load run is performed to prevent damages to the assembled pumps.
REQUIREMENTS REVIEW
Client Approval Required* Yes No Interface Resolution Required* Yes No
*Address these “yes” answers in the WTP Disposition Statement (above).

WTP SDDR 24590-WTP-SDDR-MS-17-00022, UCI SDDR 7876-1 Page 5 of 6
Deviation Description
Per 24590-B0F-3PS-MPVS-T0001, Rev 1, Submersible Centrifugal Sump Pumps, Exhibit 1, Low Voltage
Induction Motors, sections 5.1.1 and 5.1.3.1, a routine test shall be performed and shall include no-load
readings of current, power, speed and frequency, and mechanical vibration per MG-1, part 7. Section
5.1.1 also states that all testing shall be performed in accordance with applicable industry standards.
NEMA MG-1 (1998), section 12.55.1 states that testing shall be performed per IEEE-112. IEEE-112
(2004) section 5.5.1 states that no-load readings shall be taken after bearing loss stabilization (as
defined in the referenced section).
Since, however, the subject pumps are close coupled submersible pumps and the pump motors are
integral to the pump, the motors cannot be tested prior to assembly of the completed pump.
Additionally, the assembled pumps are not to be operated dry, since doing so would cause heat build-up
in the seals due to the lack of cooling water flow, and quickly lead to seal failure. Since the motors
cannot be tested prior to assembly of the pump, and the pump cannot be run dry, therefore an
extended no-load run of the motor/pump assembly is not possible without damage to the equipment.
Proposed Disposition and Technical Justification
Although an extended no-load run until bearing loss stabilization is not possible, the manufacturer has
advised that a short no-load run (approximately 1-2 minutes) will not cause damage to the seals, and is
performed as part of the manufacturer's standard production testing. The required electrical
parameters and vibration measurements shall be recorded during this short no-load run. This is
considered acceptable since IEEE-112 Section 5.5.1 states that the primary influence on bearing loss
stabilization is removal of grease from the bearing path, and the subject bearings are oil lubricated
rather than grease lubricated. Furthermore, loaded performance testing of the complete pump/motor
assembly shall be performed in accordance with 24590-B0F-3PS-MPVS-T0001, Rev 1 Section 6.4.2, and
the applicable Hydraulic Institute standards. Loaded pump testing will verify the electrical and
mechanical characteristics of the complete pump/motor assembly, including vibration, and therefore
will provide reasonable assurance that motor characteristics are acceptable for the application.
Therefore the short no-load run is considered acceptable.
