Computer through the ages

Colossus 5/02/1944Colossus was the first computer. However, since it was destroyed then rebuilt it isn’t recorded as the oldest computer. Developed by Tommy Flowers. Colossus had no memory. Since the main role for Colossus was to decipher German codes. The machine was kept top secret.

The Witch 1951It weights 2 ton. The Witch read punch papers. While it is working you can ask for it to be quiet. In the end they didn’t destroy the computer but they gave it away as a prize to people in college.

IBM personal computer 1980sIn 1980s people could finally have a personal computer. Normal people could finally buy a computer. The simplest computer could only hold 16K.

Laptops 1989+In 1989, the first portable laptop was made. Leading us to the modern laptops
