1. Lethal Injection

Lethal injection is a common way of execution in the United States.

There are three types of drugs in the injection. (Sodium Thiopental, Pancuronium Bromide, Potassium Chloride)

The drugs are injected manually in to the IV.

The prisoner is dead within a minute or two after the final dose is given.

The prisoner is strapped to the bed while the procedure takes place.

After the prisoner is dead the body is given to the family.

2. The Electric Chair

The prisoner is strapped to the chair with metal straps. Electrodes are placed on the legs and the head to create a closed circuit.

For the first 15 second 2,000 volts are released. This causing unconsciousness and to stop the heart.

The second current will cause severe damage to internal organs and the body can heat up to 59 degrees Celsius.

Unconsciousness should occur within the first second or two.

3. Gas Chamber

As the prisoner is brought to the chamber it is strapped to the chair.

The chamber is sealed and the executioner releases the gas. The gases are concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4).

The curtains are drawn back to allow witnesses to see and the prisoner is asked to make his last statement.

After the statement they add more deadly acids to make the prisoner dead.

In most cases they try to hold their breath. Death from a gas chamber is painful and unpleasant.

4. Firing Squad

This method of execution is considered to be the most honorable.

The prisoner sits on a chair blindfolded and restrained.

A group of men then fire a single bullet in to the prisoner’s heart.

It’s not a very common method but it’s still used today.

5. Hanging

In third world countries hanging is a common way for punishment.

The death is slow and painful. While the prisoner stands

there is a rope put around their neck. Also, they are blindfolded.

The rope is then lifted into the air taking the prisoner along with it.

Then some of the rope is released making the prisoner suffocate causing them to die.

7. Guillotine

This device itself is a large timber frame with a space at the bottom for the neck. At the top is a large angled blade.

Once the prisoner is secured the blade is dropped, bringing about immediate death.

This method is no longer used anywhere in the world.

When it was used back in the days it was used on anyone regardless of class and age.

This method mostly happens in third world countries.

The men are buried up to their waist. While the women are buried up to their neck. These are for already married offenders.

Our Opinions

We think these methods are good and bad in their own ways. These methods are good because if you kill someone innocent you deserve to die. They are bad because some people get death penalties for doing nothing wrong for instance , in some third world countries if your homosexual you can get a death penalty. Also the death penalties cost a lot of money which obviously is not a good thing.

What other People think

A lot of people don’t really like the death penalty and aren't too fond of it. But people know that in this world, we actually need death penalties. They say that we cant keep criminals in jail forever and that criminals need a bigger threat. Some people still think that death penalties shouldn’t exist at all because it costs too much and the money could be used for a better cause.

65% of people support the death penalty
