Hitler wanted to break it apart so he ordered a massive attack on the American forces. (Know as the Ardennes Offensive )

The Ardennes Offensive attack work for two days but after that Britain, America, and France counter attacked. Then the Allies had experience through the first jet bombers.

The 1st SS Panzer Division, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Joachim Peiper, had to make their way back to Germany on foot. This was the unit that was responsible for the Malmédy Massacre. 

  The Sixth Panzer Army, led by Sepp Dietrich, was to lead the attack and to capture Antwerp

The Fifth Panzer Army, led by Manteuffel, was to capture American Forces and to capture the strategic road

The Seventh Army, led by Brandenberger, was to attack the southern flank to make sure that the American force wouldn’t be able to do anything.
