•What are clouds, how do they form, and what are the different types?
112.5 Science: Grade 3
•2. Scientific Processes. The student uses scientific inquiry methods during field and laboratory investigations.
b.) Collect information by observing and measuring.
•5. Science Concepts. The student knows that systems exist in the world.
a.) Observe and identify simple systems such as a sprouted seed and
wooden toy car.
•Students will learn about clouds and how they form.
•Students will be able to identify the different types of clouds.
•Students will have an understanding of which clouds cause rain and how it is formed.
•Knowledge: Students will demonstrate this by learning what clouds are
and about the different types of clouds. Also, which types of clouds cause rain.
•Understand:Students will demonstrate this by observing the clouds
outside as a group and understanding what was previously taught.
•Apply:Students will demonstrate this by applying what they
learned about clouds and using that in their observation of clouds.
•Make a Cloud:Students will make a cloud using hot water, glass bottle,
thin piece of cloth, rubber band, and crushed ice. They will observe the formation of clouds as warm air meets cold ice.
•Observe Clouds:Students will go outside as a group and observe the
clouds in the sky and record what they see on notebook paper. They will be using their knowledge and understanding of clouds and applying it to their observation.
