History :
Jamshetji Tata1938-1904
The company started byJamsetji Tata came to be
known as theTata Groupand is today among thelargest and most respectedcompanies of the world.
Jamsetji, was however, known for much more thanjust starting a company. Hewas a pioneer in his fieldand thought way ahead ofhis times.
When he started the Empress Mills in Nagpur, he didn't
just think of novel ways to manufacture textiles, healso put in place very good labour practices. This waslong before any labour laws came into existence.
Though India remained under British rule while he wasalive, he interacted with activists such as DadabhaiNaoroji and Pherozeshah Mehta. He was stronglyinfluenced by their thinking. However, he always
maintained that political freedom must beaccompanied by economic self sufficiency. Not only didhe manage to create thousands of jobs, he paved theway for many future enterprises. The establishment ofIndian Institute of Science was initiated by him.

Introduction of Tata Nano
Dream-dream and dream, because dream gives
vision, vision gives thoughts and finally thoughts leadto the action. Each letter of these motivational words
said by Indias former President Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
goes exactly with Mr.Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata
group, who in the year 2003, dreamt of producing a
safe, affordable Car for the common man. Finally afterthe wait of five years, crossing all financial and
technological barriers, Ratan Tata kept his promise and
unveiled Tata Nano on 10th January 2007, at the 9th
Auto Expo 2008 in New Delhi. Tata Nano, cool & smart,
launched by Tata Motors is worlds cheapest Car with aprice tag of $ 2500.

Why Nano ?
On a wet Autust in 2003, Mumbai, when Tata was
driving back home from his office, he saw a youngcouple traveling with their 2 children on a two-wheeler
and was struck by the enormous risks of riding on a
wet road. Drivers of three wheelers are looked down
upon in India, four wheelers had emotional not just
practical appeal. People want to move from two-wheelers for four-wheelers, today they cant afford it,
these are the words spoken by Mr. Ratan Tata, to Mr.
Ravi Kant, the managing director of Tata Motors, in
2003.

Future of Nano
Emerging markets are a fertile ground forinnovation. The challenge of reaching dispersed,low-income consumers in emerging markets often
spurts significant innovation. As customers gain more power, they will demand
more tailoring and value-added service to meettheir needs. Companies that innovate on thisdimension are likely to be richly rewarded.
World is getting tougher day by day being uniqueis a competitive advantage. Expectations to Nano
have proved this. After 100 years to Henry Ford, Tata has proved himagain not only he came out of the expectations butalso came out with a platform for Indian autosector.
So this as per this project conclusion can be draw as afuture car not only of Indian but also if exported thancould be to the world.
