North Korea speaks mostly only Korean throughout the country and it is what is taught in schools.
South Korea speaks Korean as well but English is also widely taught.

When Hangul originally came about, there were 28 characters used; 16 constants and 12 vowels.
Over the centuries the written language changed to 24 characters; 13 constants and 11 vowels.
The modern Korean alphabet is made of 40 characters; 14 constants, 5 double constants, 10 vowels, and 11 double
vowels.
