Copyright and Fair Use Privacy

• Always remember that every students has the right for privacy!

• Never allow students to put information about them selves online.

• Like their name, address, and photos.

• Children’s Online Privacy Act (1998) and Children's Internet Protection Act (2000).

• Fair use: this allows teachers to use copyrighted materials in the classroom.

Acceptable Use Software Privacy

• Copying software is against the law! Just like copying CDs and movies.

• Schools must have a appropriately license to be able to use it in the network.

• As teachers we are responsible for how students use media!

• Code of ethics:

• Create a document that explains what is expected from both parents and students.

• Filtering software protects students.

The Digital Divide Cyber Bullying

• Cyber Bullying includes bullying through the internet, cell phones, and other devices.

• 43% of teens have reported being Cyber Bullied in the past year.

• NCPC have released publications to prevent it.

• Not all students have equal excess to technology. There for it is important that we a future educators provide equal opportunities for our students.

Freedom of Speech Academic Dishonesty• Is when students use others

work as their own. This has became even easier to do in the digital age.

We as citizens of the United States have the right for Freedom of Speech, but this means that not all content is kid friendly. There for it is the schools responsibility to control what students are allowed to do on the internet at school.

Ethical Issues

1. What year was the Children’s Online Privacy Act in acted?

2. What must schools have in order use copyrighted soft ware?

3. What percent of teens have reported being cyber bullied in the last year?

4. How can you change the percent of teens being cyber bullied?
