Black squirrels can be found throughout IOWA. They are found in Ohio, Maryland, Washington, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

C IS FOR………….

Council bluffs was known as Kingsville IOWA until 1852. Council bluffs IOWA is more than a decade old.

D IS FOR…………

Dust Bowl was caused by several different factors that all seemed to come together at the same time. The Dust Bowl was in the area of the Great Plains also.

European explorers began passing along IOWA’S eastern border in the late 1600’s. Marquette were the first Europeans to visit IOWA.

F IS FOR………For Madison was built in 1804 they had a leader named Sauk the leader who led tribes around the USA, AND HE HAD CONTROL OVER Illinois IOWA. Fort Madison staid in IOWA until 1808 – 1813.

Geode rocks can be found in almost any part of IOWA but especially in the south east part. Geode rocks are IOWA’S state rock.

Hughes Harold served as governor from 1962-1968 in Ida county ,IOWA. Hughes Harold started a AA group In Ida Grove IOWA.

Iowa Hawkeyes have 24 sports 11 for men and 13 for women. The Iowa Hawkeyes have been around sense 1900’s.

John Wayne is a famous actor for western movies. He was born in Winterset IOWA.

K IS FOR………..Ku Klux Klan tribe had lots of

people who did not like them and most of them were the IOWAN’S they were glad to see them see them lose members. The Klu Klux Klan tribe was a secret organization.

Lime stone can be found almost any were aspeshily in IOWA. Lime stone can also be found in shallow waters.

Mesquakies currently have reservations in IOWA. The Meskwaki call themselves Mesquakie witch means the red earth.

N IS FOR……..

Newton is a city in the county seat of jasper county, IOWA. The city Newton was found in 1850 and incorporated as a city in 1857.

Old order Amish settlement is in Johnson and Washington county in eastern IOWA. The older order Amish were a big group of christion fellow ships.

Prairies once covered 142 million acres. Prairies formed about 8,000 years ago in the united states.

Quaker oats company is popular in IOWA. Quaker oats was first established in 1850.

R IS FOR………

Ragbrai started when a few friends got together ,and went for a bike ride across IOWA. This long ride across IOWA started on Jan. 31, 2011.

Sod Houses have been around for a very long time, but in the older days. The ceilings were made out of blocks of the ground, and at night you would get bugs probley in your bed.

Tomas Jefferson was the third USA president. In 1801 he became president.

Underground Railroad was a system for helping escaped slaves from the southern states to reach freedom. One slave named Tice David ran away from the slavery keep.

Vietnam war protest started in the 1960’s, the united states sent soilders to fight in the southeastern part. Lots of colleges had to go home, because of the war.

World war 2 was a big distraction to IOWAN’S. They started creating a army, and navy witch created a air force. They began to think that they would loose the war, but they finally won.

X IS FOR……….

Xavier high school is located in Clear Rapids IOWA. Xavier high school is the sixth largest high school in IOWA.

Y IS FOR………

Young Briaham was a America leader of the United States. Young Briaham was the second president at the church of Jesus.

Z IS FOR………

Zearing IOWA was first found on October, 17 1888. Zearing was named after William Zearing a man from IOWA who donated a bell to the community.
