• His real name is Dick Blinken (Richard Blinken-Smythe). X was born in Cambridge, England.

• X was once an extreme left-wing Cambridge sociology don who went to Australia to research biker gangs. His experiences there transformed him into the object of his research, as years of intellectual displeasure and extreme indignation at society's two-faced morality, instilled in him a desire to take society apart with a chainsaw. X is now a scavenger of the swamps, and can cut through steel, wrought iron, and nearly any metal with his diamond-tooth chainsaw.

• Who is X? (Picture on next slide)

The government set aside land for the Tamil refugees returning from Burma during 1960s. It is run by Burma Tamizhar Marumalarchi Sangam, an association that has been set up to look after the interests of the traders since 1966.

• “There are apparently eight possible ways to insert it, out of which only one is correct. What happens if I do it wrong? I try inserting the disk sideways. Ah, the designer thought of that. A little study shows that the case really isn't square: it's rectangular, so you can't insert a longer side. I try backward. It goes in only part of the way. Small protrusions, indentations, and cutouts, prevent it from being inserted backward or upside down: of the eight ways one might try to insert it, only one is correct, and only that one will fit. An excellent design.“

• X is a location in Greece where a narrow coastal passage existed in antiquity. It derives its name from its hot sulphur springs. "Hot gates" is also "the place of hot springs and cavernous entrances to Hades”

• In a Greek myth is mentioned that Heracles had jumped into the river in an attempt to wash off the Hydra poison infused in the cloak that he could not take off. The river was said to have become hot and stayed that way ever since.

• What is X? You may know it for some other reason.

• X DiCrescenzo is an American distance runner. She competes in the women's 3000 meters steeplechase. She competed at the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials where she made the finals, but did not qualify for the Olympic team. DiCrescenzo failed to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics but finished 13th at USA 10 km Championships and 7th in steeplechase at Olympic Trials. She won the heart of Tom Higgenson, lead singer of _________, who wrote a famous pop single after her. Though the two were never in a relationship, X did attend the 2008 Grammy Award show as the guest of Higgenson, where her namesake song was nominated for 2008 Song of the Year (won by Amy Winehouse).

• The origin of X has been traced back to the late 19th century in the Key West, Florida area. The first formal mention of X as a recipe may have been made by William Curry, a ship salvager and Key West's first millionaire; his cook, "Aunt Sally", made the pie for him. It is also possible that Sally adapted the recipe already created by local sponge fishermen. Sponge fishermen spent many contiguous days on their boats, and stored their food on board, including nutritional basics such as canned milk (which would not spoil without refrigeration), limes and eggs. Sponge fishermen at sea would presumably not have access to an oven, and, similarly, the original recipe X did not call for cooking the mixture of lime, milk, and eggs.

• X was created 250 years ago and is named after a Shiva temple within its boundaries. Initially, it was a natural depression; and was flooded after the Ajan Bund was constructed by Maharaja Suraj Mal, the then ruler of the province , between 1726–1763. The bund was created at the confluence of two rivers, the Gambhir and Banganga. It was a hunting ground for the maharajas of this place, a tradition dating back to 1850, and duck shoots were organised yearly in honor of the British viceroys. The last big shoot was held in 1964 but the Maharajah retained shooting rights until 1972. In 1985, X was declared a World Heritage Site under the world Heritage Convention.

• X Y is a nickname for an area with a concentration of Internet and new media companies in Manhattan, New York City. Originally, the term referred to the cluster of such companies extending from the Flatiron district to SoHo and TriBeCa along the Broadway corridor, but as the location of these companies spread out, it became a general term referring to the dot com industry in New York City as a whole. The name derives from X Z in California. The name is ironic, since New York City contains no Ys since the Commissioners' Plan of 1811, which removed all remaining serviceable Ys.

The movie was made after Raj Kapoor’s commercial flop ‘Mera Naam Joker’, and looked to make up for the losses. What USP did the film makers bank on, successfully, to earn back the money?

• “Well, it's half true. In Japanese the character for mouth is a square shape. It's not circular like the pizza, but I decided to round it out. There was the temptation to make the shape less simple. Someone suggested we add eyes. But we eventually discarded that idea because once we added eyes, we would want to add glasses and maybe a moustache. There would just be no end to it. Food is the other part of the basic concept. In my initial design, I had put the player in the midst of food all over the screen”

campaign for the Dos Equis brand of beer,.The ads feature Jonathan Goldsmith. The precise settings are never revealed, but he performs feats such as:catching a marlin while cavorting in a Hemingway-esque scene with a beautiful, young woman; winning an arm-wrestling match in a South American setting; surfing the killer wave; and bench pressing two young East Asian women in a casino setting, each woman being seated in a chair. The voiceovers themselves are intended to be both humorous and outrageous ("if he were to punch you in the face, you would have to fight off the strong urge to thank him"; "he can speak French, in Russian"; "even his enemies list him as their emergency contact"). The agency's rationale for the brand strategy was defined thus: "Rather than an embodiment of the brand, The ____________ is a voluntary brand spokesperson: he and Dos Equis share a point of view on life that it should be lived interestingly."

19 • The Volvo YCC was a concept car presented in 2004

with the stated goal of meeting the needs of a particular set of drivers.

• There was no hood, and the engine was designed to need an oil change only after 50,000 km (31,000 mi) and to automatically send a radio message to a garage a short time before any required maintenance. Filling the windshield washer tank was done by a capless ball valve, right next to the capless gas tank ball valve. The car featured run-flat tires, like those of wheeled armoured vehicles, in order to be able to drive all the way to a garage after a puncture and thus avoid having to change a tire by the side of the road. The bumpers and body cladding were made from tough, dent-resistant materials.

• Who are the people this car is aimed at?

30* • X was born in 1920 in Bombay to blue collar, middle-class

Parsi parents. X's surname derives from the profession of his forefathers, who had been manufacturers of palanquins. His talent in expounding the subject of taxation was matched by his genius in explaining the intricacies of the Budget to thousands of his listeners. His famous Annual Budget speeches had humble beginnings in 1958 in a small hall of an old hotel called Green Hotel in Bombay. The audience in these meetings was drawn from industrialists, lawyers, businessmen and the common individuals. His Budget speeches became so popular throughout India and the audience for them grew so large, that bigger halls and later the Brabourne Stadium in Bombay had to be booked to keep pace with the demand of an audience of over 20,000. It was aptly said that in those days that there were two Budget speeches, one by the Finance Minister and the other by X, and X’s speech was undoubtedly the more popular and sought after.
