Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne 2000

Page 4: Buy french wine

The aromas are riper than the 2000 version though with a similar mix of green apple, melon and muscat notes followed by extremely fresh and wonderfully pure chardonnay fruit suffused through and through by an intense stoniness followed by relatively big and still quite tight middle weight, taut, muscular flavors of considerable tension and breed. This is a stunning effort for the vintage and may ultimately equal the excellent 2000.” (Burghound.com, Jul 01, 2003) 91 points, Allen Meadows

Caronne St Gemme 2012

The grand vin is Château Caronne Ste Gemme, a classic blend comprising about 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot from the Haut-Medoc, although the exact proportions do vary with the vintage. This classic Bordeaux always provides excellent value for money.

#2 on the Top 100 Wines of 2003, Collectibles* Absolutely gorgeous on the nose, with currants, blackberries and freshly cut flowers. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a solid core of fruit. This goes on and on on the palate. The essence of class and refinement. Relatively good value, considering the superb quality. No better Cos since 1989.

Chateau du Chatelard Beaujolais Fleurie ‘Renaissance’ 2014Chateau du Chatelard Beaujolais Fleurie

'Renaissance' 2014“Darker than their Les Vieux Granits. Mid to deep cherry red. Aroma of red cherry but still with an attractive, savoury peppery character. Texture is firmer but the tannins are fine and dry. A delicate oak sweetness comes into play on the finish but the freshness leaves you ready for the next sip. Tangy and fresh and with more to come.” 16.5 Points Jancis Robinson

Chateau L’Evangile 2000This is an absolutely spectacular L’Evangile. It remains to be seen whether 2009 will eclipse this great effort. Largely a Merlot-dominated blend with some Cabernet Franc in it, the greatness of this terroir is exhibited in the complexity of the nose, which offers up hints of subtle chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, truffle, barbecue smoke, and graphite. Dense, rich, and full-bodied, with an opulence and succulence that are prodigious, the tannins are present but extremely sweet, and the wine multi-dimensional and just emerging as a compellingly complex, head-turning beauty. Drink it now and over the next 20-25 years. Kudos to L’Evangile.

This has everything. Super class and elegance yet ripe and exciting. Fantastic aromas of blackberries cherries violets and minerals. Full-bodied with incredible raspberry cherry mineral and silky tannins. Very long. Winemaker Denis Durantou is a purist and it shows. Best after 2012.”97 points, James Suckling Wine Spectator
