Bolt Circle Flange OD Thick. About Butterfly Valves Butterfly valves are named after the wing-like action of their flow-controlling disc that opens and closes at right angles to the flow path. They feature an integral gasket for sealing against flanges, eliminating the need for separate gaskets. Use for both on/off and throttling applications. They operate with a 1 /4 turn for quick opening and closing, and provide bubble-tight shutoff (no visible air bubbles when valves are closed). Wafer Style—Mount by positioning between two flanges in your piping system. They have un- threaded holes or guides to help you line up with the flange bolt holes. Not for dead-end service. Lug Style—Have pretapped holes so you can bolt directly to existing flange in your piping system. Most can be bolted directly to the end flange of your system for dead-end service. Specialty Connections—Include Tri-Clamp (quick-clamp), butt-weld, and threaded connections. Ductile Iron Butterfly Valves Stronger and more resistant to cracking than cast iron valves. Use with ANSI Class 125-lb. and 150-lb. flanges. All comply with MSS-SP-25, MSS-SP-67, and API-609. Valves with an EPDM seat work well with hot and cold water, as well as steam pressure up to 30 psi. Maximum temperature is 225° F. Valves with a Buna-N seat offer excellent resistance to petroleum-based products. Maximum temperature is 180° F. Valves with a Viton seat are resistant to chemicals, even at elevated temperatures. They’re perfect for fuel, gasoline, and oils. Maximum temperature is 300° F. Connections: Wafer or lug style. Ductile Iron Actuated Butterfly Valves

With greater strength and cracking resistance than cast iron valves, our rugged ductile iron body valves are able to withstand the most severeenvironments. Use them with ANSI Class 125-lb. and 150-lb. flanges. All meet API-609 and MSS-SP-67 specifications. Actuator housings arealuminum and have a visual position indicator.

Valves with an EPDM seat are for general purpose applications. Maximum temperature is 225° F. Valves with a Buna-N seat are compatiblewith petroleum-based products and hydrocarbons. Maximum temperature is 180° F. Valves with a Viton seat have good chemical resistanceand withstand temperatures up to 300° F.

Pneumatically actuated valves can be used indoors and outdoors; maximum temperature is 212° F. All require an 80 psi air supply. Double-acting actuators require air to open and air to close. Air connection is 1⁄8� NPT female, except 12� pipe sizes which are 1⁄4� NPT female. Spring-return actuators require air to open; the spring closes the valve upon loss of air. Air connection is 1⁄4� NPT female. Optional NEMA 4X solenoidvalve (sold separately below) lets you electrically control air to the actuator.

Electrically actuated valves have a reversing motor that operates on 110 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Conduit connection for 2� to 6� sizes is 1⁄2� NPTfemale; for 8� to 12� sizes it’s 3⁄4� NPT female. Maximum temperature is 140° F.

A replaceable cartridge liner makes it easy to replace the seat, simplifying maintenance. Valvesare for use with ANSI Class 125-lb. and 150-lb. flanges. They meet API-609 and MSS-SP-67. Allactuator housings are aluminum and have a visual position indicator.

Valves with an EPDM seat are for general use. Maximum temperature is 275° F. Valves with aBuna-N seat offer excellent resistance to petroleum-based products and hydrocarbons. Maximumtemperature is 180° F.

Pneumatically actuated valves are suitable for indoor and outdoor use, and have a maximumtemperature of 195° F. All require 40 to 150 psi air supply and have a 1⁄4� NPT female air connec-tion. Double-acting actuators require air to open and air to close. Spring-return actuators requireair to open; the spring closes the valve upon loss of air. An optional NEMA 4X solenoid valve (soldseparately below) lets you electrically control air to the actuator.

Electrically actuated valves have a reversing motor that operates on 115 VAC, 60 Hz. Conduitconnection for 2� to 6� pipe is 1⁄2� NPT female; for 8� to 12� pipe, it’s 3⁄4� NPT female. Maximumtemperature is 150° F.

Valves with an EPDM seat are for general service and HVAC applications.Maximum temperature is 225° F. Valves with a Buna-N seat have excellentresistance to petroleum-based products. Maximum temperature is 180° F.

Pneumatically actuated valves can be used indoors and outdoors, andhave a maximum temperature of 195° F. They require 80 to 150 psi air supply(air connection is 1⁄8� NPT). Double-acting actuators require air to open and airto close. Spring-return actuators require air to open; a spring closes the valveupon loss of air.

Electrically actuated valves have a continuous-duty reversing motor withmanual override, heater, position indicator, and two position-limiting switches.They have a maximum temperature of 140° F. Operate on 120 VAC, 60 Hz.Conduit connection for 2� to 3� pipe is 3⁄4� NPT female; for 4� and 6� pipe, it’s1� NPT female.

Cast Iron Pneumatically Actuated Butterfly Valves with Inflatable Seat

A unique inflatable EPDM seat provides more seal contact area for a tighter shut-off, requires less torque to open and close,and compensates for disc and seat wear. When the disc rotates to the closed position, it makes no contact with the seat.The seat then inflates against the disc, creating an extra-tight seal. Before the valve opens, the seat is deflated. Then thedisc can easily rotate to the open position.

Use with ANSI Class 125-lb. and 150-lb. flanges. Actuators have a position indicator and operate on 80 to 115 psi (airconnection is 1⁄4� NPT). Note: Seat inflation (air inlet) pressure must exceed pipeline pressure by 15 psi. 90° rotation timevaries depending on pressure. Connections: Wafer style.

The extended stem gives you room to insulate the entire valve and piping system without interfering with the actionof the lever handle or gear operator. These valves are also used for access to pipelines running above ceilings andunder floors. Use with ANSI Class 125-lb. and 150-lb. flanges. They have an EPDM seat for hot and cold water as wellas low-pressure steam up to 30 psi. All comply with MSS-SP-67, and API-609.

The corrosion resistance and noncontaminating features of PVC are combined with the convenience of an au-tomated valve. Use with ANSI Class 125-lb. and 150-lb. flanges. The actuator is aluminum and has a position in-dicator.

Valves with an EPDM seat are for general use. Valves with a Buna-N seat are highly resistant to petroleum-based products and hydrocarbons. Valves with a Viton seat offer superior chemical resistance.

Pneumatically actuated valves require an 80 to 120 psi air supply, and are spring-return style (require air to open;the spring closes the valve upon loss of air). Air connection for 11⁄2� to 4� sizes is 1⁄8� NPT; for 6� and 8� sizes is 1⁄4�NPT female.

Electrically actuated valves have a 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz, reversing motor. Conduit connection is 1⁄2� NPT female.Connections: Wafer style.
