Once we got over the shock of no wet weather cancelled games for 3 weeks, the girls were ready for action! And so were the dads who made a great cheer squad this week. Their input was invaluable to both players & coach..... The girls got off to a great start in the first third, racing to a 4-0 lead. The speed at which the girls are passing the ball is fantastic and they are all moving into space on the court rather than standing straight in front of the girl with the ball. The teams defence has also improved out of sight & all the girls are sticking with their player & taking intercepts all over the court. The final score (we are pretty sure) was 5-2, another Butterflies win. Undefeated this season, they are the Black Caviars of the modis competition. It must have been Matilda's dads' cheering that spurred her on to score a goal & also claim the "girl of the game" trophy - well done Matilda, you were fabulous. We now enjoy a 2 week break for school holidays & Easter. Looking forward to continuing a successful season on 30 April. See you all then. Butterflies Blurbs – Round 3

Butterflies U8’s – Modies

A beautiful sunny Autumn Saturday with not a cloud in sight as we lined up against Randwick Rugby. Once we got over the shock of no wet weather cancelled games for 3 weeks, the girls were ready for action! And so were the dads who made a great cheer squad this week. Their input was invaluable to both players & coach.....

The girls got off to a great start in the first third, racing to a 4-0 lead. The speed at which the girls are passing the ball is fantastic and they are all moving into space on

the court rather than standing straight in front of the girl with the ball. The teams defence has also improved out of sight & all the girls are sticking with their player & taking intercepts all over the court. The final score (we are pretty sure) was 5-2, another Butterflies win. Undefeated this season, they are the Black Caviars of the modis competition.

It must have been Matilda's dads' cheering that spurred her on to score a goal & also claim the

"girl of the game" trophy - well done Matilda, you were fabulous. We now enjoy a 2 week break for school holidays & Easter. Looking forward to continuing a

successful season on 30 April. See you all then. Cath Mc

Butterflies U10’s

What a fantastic game our little team had on Saturday. It has really started to come together for the girls and both our attack and defence has really

improved in such a short amount of time. Our goal shooters were on fire especially in the first quarter, nearly every shot went in. We also

defended very well in the goal ring obtaining most of the rebounds. Every girl played their little hearts out, we could not single out an individual for “Girl of the

Game” as every player tried their hardest. Final score, 17/5 .Wow !!!!!!!!! It’s been a long time between wins for this little team. We all were very excited but also a little sad that our great coach Jenny wasn’t able to witness

our great victory. We hope this is only the beginning of our winning streak for the season. Bronwyn Towning

Butterflies Under 12’s

Wow what a team!

This week we played the top Mascot team in Division 1. We knew it was going to be a tough

game especially without Tami our goal shooter, no reserves and super coach Jenny away.

Our team has lots of determination and played really well. The final score was 19 to 14 against

us. At some points in the game there was only a goal in it. We definitely had their very vocal

coach worried at times. It was not a win but there is definitely room for us to improve. We can

beat this team.

Every girl on the court was trying their hardest. These girls play so well as a team. Olivia and

Grace worked well together in the goal circle against some fierce defending. Meg, Sara and

Kiarna, our pocket rockets in the centre court never stopped. Sarah and Steph did their usual

fantastic defending. There was no stand out player this week just a great team effort.

A special mention must be given to our enthusiastic stand in coach for this week, Adam

Treharne. He had the girls warmed up and ready to go and had plenty of encouraging words from

the sideline.

With a few weeks break I am sure we will return ready for a win!

Butterflies U14’s Butterflies 13yr Blue v Bronte

The Blues put together another outstanding team effort on the weekend, showing their strengths and versatility all round the court. The mid courters, Emma, Catie and Sinead put in a solid effort running hard in defence and attack. Montana showed her excellent skills as centre and had a very specky quarter on the WD, taking some great

intercepts and keeping the ball in play .

Shanelle had a fantastic game in GD after recovering from a mid week illness and was back to her leaping best! Sarah, Tatum, Holly and Brooke demonstrated they have

the skills to move easily from defence to attack and the variety of shooting combinations gives our team plenty of strong options.

For 3 quarters of the game the scoring was fairly even, the standout period for us

was in the second quarter when Brooke scored 10 out of 12 attempts and the defenders allowed Bronte to score just twice - what a great team effort!

Final Score 42 -23 to us. Well done Blues.

Brooke is Girl of the game this week, playing and shooting consistently well and

putting her shoes back on in record time to come back on for injury replacement in the final quarter!

Happy Easter everyone!

Saturday’s games, trainings and team line up etc.

To go to the Butterflies facebook page just type "butterflies netball" in the search and

become a friend or click “Like”, Please let your team know only if they are old enough

and already have facebook, we definitely don't want to encourage little ones wanting to

use facebook for the sake of netball.
