Exploration in the Heart of Borneo
This package offers special-interest ecotourism by exploring the
upstream part of Kapuas, the longest river in Indonesia (1,143 Km).
Using traditional wooden-longboat, the adventurers will be challenged
by attacking fast current of Mendalam River, Hovat, and Mentibat
River while entering the virgin rain forest (including lowland
dipterocarp forest and montane forest). After four hours river trip,
tourists will arrive at Bungan Jaya, the nearest village in Betung
Kerihun National Park area or Tanjung Lokang Village (after eight
hours river trip). Both villages are inhabited by Dayak Punan
Hovongan tribe. Accompanied by local people/tour guide (with
permit), tourists can explore ancient caves with some of them
presenting prehistoric paintings on the cave walls.
Danau Sentarum : Wetland Package Tour which offers nature and
culture trip by exploring Danau Sentarum National Park. Using speed
boat or traditional longboat, tourist can enjoy the exoticism of the
RAMSAR Site (wetland ecosystem with highly environmental values).
During the rainy season visitors will be presented with a broad view of
Lake Sentarum. Conversely during the dry season almost all areas of
the lake experience drought. The main attraction in the dry season is
the traditional fisherman activities at the peak of fish harvest.
Tourism activities which are offered in Danau Sentarum: Visit
Tekenang Field Station, Explore Tekenang, Explore Sepandan,
Trekking, local culture, Melayu-tribe traditional fisherman-hamlets,
Dayak-tribe long house, fishing, and Bandong Traditional Ships.
