• Wireless is a requirement, not a luxury- Understanding the “end user experience”- New measurements include performance and latency
• Proliferation of devices – IoT- Understanding the affects (differing physical layer) and
needs
• Access Points are “commodity”
• Applications are King- Always On- Multi-vendor- But not all in one (monolithic)- “Targeted” analytics are needed- Location sensing

Market Evolution• Access layer vendors, both wired and WLAN, do merge as they want to offer a complete
enterprise access layer (wired and wireless components) to win market share and increase revenu- Cisco -> Meraki, HP -> Aruba, Extreme Networks-> Zebra, Brocade-> Ruckus, etc.
• Cloud is a “how”, not a “what”. Vendors must offer in-premise, private cloud and public cloud offerings
• Focus on business outcomes:- Maximize client experience by addressing managementand latency- Focus on network service applications
• Policy enforcement will address security and access control requirements
- IoT object connectivity, security and management will be a weak spot for most enterprises- Context inputs (primitives) will shape the output of applications
• Location will be one of the most important context inputs. • Location will require multiple technologies
- Campus edge SDN will be “marketecture” only for 5 years- End Users want to have a + 5 Year lifecycle as a part of the ROI
