The original Cromwell-Immordino Memorial Home with over 60 years of history in the Hopewell Valley area has found a new home. Located on the Pennington circle with the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, these two premier funeral

establishments bring together over 120 combined years of history, and an attentive experienced staff to better serve your family. “The size of the facility is really the biggest difference,” says Joe Immordino. “Being centrally located to the communities we serve, we are now able to accommodate small intimate groups or large gatherings with hundreds of people coming through the funeral home. This was something that was almost impossible before.”

The Wilson and Immordino families care greatly about the people they help. Bob and Asher Wilson have been a staple in the community for many years and are well known for their community involvement. Their compassion and knowledge in all areas of funeral service are some of the reasons why so many families seek them out to guide them through the care of their loved one. “Our help doesn’t end at the cemetery. We are committed to you before, during, and after the services,” says Joe Immordino. Along with almost 20 years’ experience as a funeral director, Joe has been offering grief support to the community for the past seven years and has owned and operated Cromwell-Immordino since 2002. Joe also has extensive clinical experience as a hospice chaplain and as a hospice bereavement counselor. He and his family live in Hopewell Borough where he serves at the Calvary Baptist Church of Hopewell offering weekly grief support programs and individual support.

When you’re reaching out for help after the loss of a loved one, choosing the right funeral home truly makes a difference. The Wilson-Apple Funeral Home and the Cromwell-Immordino Memorial Home bring together the dedication and experience to give you the service that you deserve.

t has been said….” While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach

us what life is all about.” Unknown Blooming Hearts Child Development Center took

that wisdom and opened the daycare in 2013. Our director comes with over 30 years’

experience in the Early Childhood Education fi eld. We are located at 313 Triangle Road

in Hillsborough, New Jersey. We accept children ages newborn to 13 years old. Our hours of

operation hours are Monday thru Friday 6:30am to 6:00pm.

Operating with the belief that “Play is a child’s work.” Th e staff echoes this in their daily edu-

cation and care of the children. Taking these values and implementing them, the staff was able to

not only establish “a homey environment where children would feel comfortable and loved” but

also incorporated tools such as Creative Curriculum to further their vision. Th e curriculum is

modifi ed as necessary to provide the children with one of the most stimulating, hands on, learn-

ing experiences possible.

We provide AM and PM snacks daily and weather permitting they are then able to enjoy our

beautiful natural outdoor play space to run off that extra energy.

In our experience our parents have always been comforted by the knowledge that our center

is a clean, safe and fun environment for their children to learn and grow in. All our programs are

age appropriate and the small class sizes allow us to set up learning stations and computers that

will help increase their experiences and stimulate new thoughts and ideas for creative learning.

A weekly Science class is a part of the curriculum and aims to allow the children to explore new

subjects and increase their learning experiences. Th ere are a limited number of spaces available

for special needs children as well.

All of our teachers are experienced, certifi ed, and trained in fi rst aid and CPR. Each mem-

ber of our staff has completed the screening mandated by the state. Th is includes background

checks, fi nger printing and references. Ongoing training throughout the year is provided for the

teachers to keep them on the cutting edge of the best practices in child care as well as education

for today’s ever changing world.

On the third Friday of every month we are open from 6:00pm-10:00pm for a Parent’s Night

Out! event. Th is evening gives the parents an opportunity to go out and leave the children with

us to have fun! Th is event is open to everyone in the community not just the enrolled children.

Included during the event is a movie, pizza, games, plenty of socializing, ice pops and drinks.

Th e cost is $25.00 per child and we ask that you register with us by 5:00pm, the Th ursday before

the event. We encourage all the children to bring a friend!

During the summer, a variety of summer camps are off ered at Blooming Hearts. Two, three,

and fi ve day programs are available which includes fun activities like water play, cooking, away

fi eld trips, in-house fi eld trips and reading programs.

We run a ten-week summer camp from June 20th through August 26th. Th e camp is set up

with a diff erent focus each week including: Save the Rainforest week, Kiddie Olympics week, Sci-

ence Madness week, Magic in the Air week, It’s A Sweet Treat week and more.

Th e fun continues with special “visiting” in-house fi eld trips too! Th ose include Mad Science

of NJ, Sparkee Th e Mascot and General Admission from the Somerset Patriots, Th e Lizard Guys,

Magician, Pony rides, and more. Th ese are always a huge hit! We also off er individual programs

the children can be registered for at an additional cost. Th ese include Swimming Lessons (Hills-

borough Racquetball Club), Karate (on-site instruction), and Amazing Athletes (on-site instruc-

tion) Again, these programs will only be available to those who register for them and there is an

additional cost.

Th e special “visiting” in-house fi eld trips to allow us to include the children under the age

of three (which is the minimum bussing age) as well as staff and family members. However, we

will have “away” fi eld trips too such as Land of Make Believe, Jenkinson Aquarium, Turtle Back

Zoo and more that will be open for children ages 3+ that are out of diapers. Parents, Guardians,

Siblings and Grandparents are all welcome to join us on these trips as is any member of your

family!

Another part of our camp is the Reading program. Th is requires no special registration, no

extra fees and minimal paperwork! We ask only for your support! It will be an incentive/reward

based reading program for camp kids to participate in. Although we do believe that children

should read for the LOVE of reading it’s diffi cult to compete with video games and computers!

Th at is the reason why its incentive based. Th is is for both readers and children who are just

beginning to learn so everyone is included! We hope to carry through the summer the emerging

or learned reading skills each child has and enhancing them by inviting them to read! We have a

mystery reader come in and read books to the children, too.

Bussing to and from our center to Sunny Mead, Auten Road, and Triangle Elementary School

is provided.

For more detailed information about our center, curriculum and programs we off er please

visit our website at www.bloomingheartschildcare.com. To contact us with any questions includ-

ing scheduling a tour please call us at 908-431-0550. You can also follow us on Facebook.

We hope to hear from you soon!

SOLUTIONS

Th e Glasgold Group’s approachto aging gracefully utilizing non-surgical solutions

Over the years the Glasgold Group has refi ned and developed their skills as facial specialists especially in the area of non-surgical rejuvenation. They have injected thousands of happy patients who have helped build their practice by referring friends and family.

The development of long-lasting hyaluronic acid (HA) injectables such as Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane and Restylane Lift coupled with the introduction of cannula injection techniques has been the most signifi cant advancement in facial rejuvenation in the last decade. In the appropriate patient we can achieve long-lasting total facial rejuvenation.

Where injectables are most effectiveAs manufacturers developed a broader range of HA products such as Voluma® and Restylane Lyft® we have been able to accomplish dramatic non-surgical rejuvenation. Typically a thinner face will have more options for injection. Areas we routinely inject are: the temples, upper orbital rim, under eye (lower orbital rim), outer and central cheek, buccal hollow, nasolabial fold (smile lines), marionette lines, prejowl sulcus, jawline and lips.

Permanent verses Temporary FillersOur 20-plus years of experience injecting many different materials (HA since 2005) in thousands of patients for facial rejuvenation has resulted in our current thinking that the hyaluronic acid products (Juvederm®, Voluma®, Restylane®) provide the greatest benefi t to risk profi le.

These materials are signifi cantly longer lasting than believed, often providing results for years when properly injected; remember, the advertised duration is based on the companies’ FDA submission and not actual duration.

On the safety side, HA’s are the only injectable material that can be dissolved which is easily accomplished in a few minutes by injecting an enzyme, hyaluronidase, into the fi ller. This gives peace of mind that if the result is unsatisfactory it can be reversed but more importantly it removes the material to allow more effective treatment of any nodules or infection.

Products such as Radiesse® (calcium hydroxy apetite ) and Bellafi l® (poly methylmethacrylate) are composed of beads of non-resorbable material. We have two main areas of concern with these materials. The fi rst, in our experience, is the development even years after injection of a granuloma (hard nodule) or infection. Second, is that we have seen areas that these products are injected into become noticeably irregular years after injection, as the surrounding soft tissue thins out with age. Additionally, we have encountered a lot of scarring that is diffi cult to dissect through during facelift surgery.

What Is the Best HA (Hyaluronic Acid)The best HA depends on where it is being injected. Some products like Juvederm are very soft and absorb a large amount of water making them particularly useful in lips and skin lines. Others like Voluma® and Restylane Lyft® are fi rm and absorb less water and are particularly good for midface and jawline volume.

Method of InjectingWe perform our injections using a Cannula, a very fi ne fl exible tube with a blunt tip that is used to inject fi llers. A small needle hole is made in the skin to insert the Cannula. There are many benefi ts to Cannula injection; it can be used on every site in the face. There is typically minimal to no bruising and the procedures are much less painful. Cannulas virtually eliminate the worst potential complications of fi llers.

Natural Results Take Skill On the Part Of the InjectorWhy do celebrities end up looking so artifi cial and have that overdone distorted look? We only notice the bad. Many celebrities and everyday people have injectable treatments and they look great. Many of the strange appearances result from trying to accomplish too much with injectables. There are times when surgery is necessary to achieve a natural result and it is the responsibility of the injector to let a patient know the limitations of any procedure.

The spectrum of injectors’ ranges from highly experienced and well-trained surgeons to non-medical injectors illegally treating patients in hotel rooms. What makes us uniquely qualifi ed as injectors is the combination of vast experience and our understanding of facial aesthetics. We are, after all, specialized in facial surgery which sets us apart from other injectors.

Hillsborough native, Dave Zimmerman, started working for a local nursery at 17 years old, this experience sparked something within. He quickly became familiar with plant material and daily landscaping operations.

It was the same year he decided to start Zimmerman Landscaping, which started as a one-man show with one lawn mower and about 10 customers. Today, he proudly services hundreds of residents in Somerset County. Dave has been impressing clients with his creativity, talent, design, and love for what he does ever since.

Dave works closely with his residential customers to design, maintain and enhance their outdoor space that serves as a visual and functional asset to their property. He possesses a thorough understanding of seasonal challenges, soil conditions, and which colors and textures will bring a harmonious landscape to his clients that will thrive throughout the year.

Tapping into his creativity is what makes Dave tick. “I love having happy customers who are satisfi ed with the results of our fi nished work. We look to create the perfect outdoor oasis for those looking to transform their outdoor living space, or simply give people back their time on weekends so that they don’t have to tend to their own lawn care.”

Zimmerman Landscaping is a maintenance-based business that specializes in landscape design and installation for its customers. “Our mission is to provide a highly creative and truly unique landscaping experience for each of our customers. Behind the scenes I have a great team of professionals, suppliers, and growers that help me make my customers dreams a reality.”

Zimmerman Landscaping specializes in the following services: • Complete Lawn Care • Landscape Design & Installation • Paver Design, Installation, Maintenance, & Repairs • Walkways, Patios, & Driveways • Spring & Fall Yard Clean Ups • Mulch & Decorative Stone Work • Retaining Walls • Waterscapes & Ponds • Pruning & Maintenance • Tree Removal • Power Washing

Additionally, Dave is constantly looking for ways to evolve in this industry. He takes pride in holding several certifi cations, including ICPI for the installation of paver patios, walkways and driveways, as well as NCMA-SRW for the construction of natural and manmade retaining walls and steps. He is also a certifi ed Seal & Lock cleaning and sealing technician for the maintenance and restoration of concrete pavers, and a proud member of the National Association of Landscape Professionals.

Dave works closely with the Hillsborough schools, where he’s replaced the rear walkway at Amsterdam School, installed a new walkway to accommodate parents picking up their children in the back of Woodfern School, and donated a walkway to the Hillsborough High School lacrosse team.

Deeply rooted in Hillsborough, Dave has built strong and long lasting relationships in the community. When he’s not working he’s a family man and enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.

“If you live in Somerset County why not let us help you create the type of outdoor space you’ll be able to enjoy year round!”

Princeton Montessori School education creates the building blocks for a healthy and happy whole person and provides the foundation for a purposeful, responsible, and fulfi lling

life. We nurture potential and ignite a passion for learning within each child. Founded in 1968, Princeton Montessori School is an independent, coeducational day school, dedicated to the highest quality education of children, from infancy through middle school, according to the values and principles of the Montessori philosophy. Our families are committed to providing a Montessori education for their children and share the core values of our community.

Five cornerstone multiage programs are offered: Infant (8 weeks to 18 months), Toddler (18 through 36 months), Primary

(Three through six years), Elementary (fi rst through fi fth grade), and Middle School (sixth through eighth grade). Enriching before and after school offerings and stimulating summer programs are also offered.

Princeton Montessori School’s approach to education is centered around the following core values, which guide our interactions with children every day:

A respect for each child as a unique individual. We view children as naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully-prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child.

An understanding that not all children learn at the same pace. The Montessori curriculum is personalized to the needs of the student, which leads to children feeling confi dent in their abilities.

A belief that education is a partnership between families, parents, and the child. Parent education classes are conducted throughout the year to support parents.

Knowledge that independence and competence lead to self-confi dence — these are the fi rst steps in developing creative thinkers and confi dent learners. These skills are nurtured and developmentally in all programs through hands-on learning experiences and guided practice for mastery.

A commitment to character development as a central focus within the curriculum. Peace and confl ict resolution are practiced daily as children learn to be part of a warm, respectful and supportive community.

Dedication to a learning model where students are active seekers of knowledge. Education should be the lighting of a spark – igniting of a passion – from within. Children learn through hands-on activities and experiences, not through rote memorization. Teachers prepare environments where students have the freedom and the tools to pursue answers to their own questions.

Announcing New Scholarships! The Trustees of Princeton Montessori School are pleased to announce new merit-based full scholarships open to a limited number of new students entering fi rst to seventh grade. The Explorer and the Scholar Awards cover 100% of the program fees through eighth grade.

The 100% merit awards will be renewed annually through eighth grade. Applications are available on the Princeton Montessori School website and should be submitted by March 15, 2016. Scholarship application materials can be found online at at

HEATH LUMBER o the moon and back

It’s just a guess, but arguably the distance reached if one was able to calculate the

amount of lumber sold during Heath Lumber’s 160 years in business.

Established in 1857 (that’s before the Civil War) by Samuel Heath, the lumber

yard is one of the oldest lumber companies in the state and has the distinct honor of

having supplied the wood and bricks used to build some of New Jersey’s landmarks

including the barracks and other buildings at Fort Dix and the original boardwalk

in Atlantic City.

Today, Th e Patricelli family and their team at Heath Lumber have a solid grip

amid a landscape peppered with impersonal Big Box giants rather than the small

family-run yard of yesterday.

Th eir formula for success may be attributed to two, and perhaps, three things:

Outstanding customer service, quality product, and smart growth.

Giving personal treatment to every customer is incredibly important to the

Patricelli family. Rest assured, the staff at Heath knows their business and is ready,

able and more than willing to off er advice on your building projects or on the vast

array of products and tools in stock. Don’t know thin set from thin mints? No

problem, any staff er can help you. Don’t know a reciprocating saw from a roto tiller?

No worry. Th ey do. And they can teach you.

Besides the top-notch customer service and high-quality products, the fi nger of

longtime success can be pointed at the former and current owners’ smart business

decisions.

In 1933, a move to the current Olden address, off ered new yards and more

importantly, a private railroad-where lumber, brought up the Delaware River by

barge could be unloaded—and millwork facilities.

In 1958, under the ownership of John Patricelli and Tony Alach, an addition was

added to house a large, modern showroom and additional offi ce space.

During the 60’s and 70’s, Heath continued the smart growth and expanded its

product line to include paneling, windows, fl ooring, paint, cabinetry, hand and

electric tools.

Fast forward to today: Heath carries all these products and more.

With quality brands such as Andersen, Kolbe, Windsor, Plygem, Ideal, Dewalt,

Masonite, Velux, Armstrong, Th erma-Tru, Azek, Low-E, Roxul and more, no

matter your project Heath Lumber has what you need!

Going forward no one can predict the economy, the housing market or other

factors that play into the hard-earned success of the Heath Lumber company.

But one thing is for sure. When a company reaches for the stars (or planets) you

can interpret one thing: Th e products and services they off er are perhaps, out of

this world.

icky Chai, was a young man traveling with his mother to the United States 26 years ago in the search of the American dream. What he found was a love for the restaurant business and also the love of his life… his wife.

When he fi rst came to the U.S. he began his career in the restaurant business as a waiter at the age of 24 and then moved into management. Within a few years he opened his fi rst Th ai Kitchen, the fi rst of four, with a partner. When Chai was considering expanding, his partner was contemplating retirement and was not interested in opening a fi ft h Th ai Kitchen. Chai brought in a silent partner and together they opened Ricky’s Th ai in the Montgomery location this past March.

Chai has plans to expand even further with a second Ricky’s Th ai in the Trenton/Morrisville, Pennsylvania area.

Lucy’s Kitchen and Market is celebrating 25 years in business, and partners Caron Wendell and Joe McLaughlin say; “We plan to just keep on going.”

The milestone will be marked with a series of monthly specials. Visit www.lucystogo.com to learn more.

The partners got their start in 1991 after being introduced by mutual friends. Wendell, who had trained at the prestigious LaVarenne cooking school in France, was in the catering business, but ready for something new and McLaughlin was looking for a new business to get involved in. What started as potluck dinners during a rainy summer in a house share on Long Beach Island led the two partners to make a career out of ravioli and pasta.

Lucy’s was whimsically named in honor of the famous chocolate factory assembly line episode of the I Love Lucy Show. “We purchased the equipment and tried to use it but it came with no operating manuals,” Caron laughingly refl ects. Those familiar with the episode get the joke. Locals quickly embraced the idea – novel at the time – of freshly made pasta fi lled with wholesome, natural ingredients. It was a quick and easy meal, and the two offered seasonal offerings, going far beyond the basic meat or cheese.

In 1996, having outgrown the production space in Trenton, Lucy’s moved into their current manufacturing and retail facility on Route 206 on the northern edge of Princeton. Now individual customers could buy directly from them, and even watch pasta being made through a large window at the back of the store.

In 2013, they rebranded themselves as Lucy’s Kitchen and Market, better refl ecting the breadth of their offerings, which had expanded to include all of the other components of a delicious meal. Ravioli are kept frozen to ensure freshness and the freezer case holds other temptations, including iconic versions of chicken pot pie and macaroni and cheese. Refrigerated pastas (fettucine, lasagna sheets, etc.) and sauces are kept next to the ravioli along with a large selection of dips and spreads. On Sundays, the purchase of a sauce comes with a free pound of fresh pasta.

The store features an impressive array of prepared foods for breakfast lunch and dinner, including meat and vegetarian entrées, plenty of vegetable sides, made-to-order sandwiches, grab-and-go salads, and more. Cheeses, charcuterie, and a thoughtfully curated selections of pantry staples such as olive oils, crackers, and other items are also available

No matter the item, ingredients are vetted carefully to ensure top quality and freshness. The chicken is antibiotic free and humanely raised on vegetarian feed, and produce is sourced locally whenever possible. An extensive selection of catering trays are available for private and corporate events. Their biggest unexpected success has come from the high demand for prepared foods for holidays, especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Passover. Stop by and see all that Lucy’s has to offer!
