PaLS Win Two Awards!

The PaLS Service and Maintenance Contracts (SMC) Team won two awards at the recent 2019 NI Public Procurement ‘GO Awards’.

The prestigious award ceremony dedicated to Procurement professionals was held in the historic surroundings of the drawing room at the Titanic Hotel on 13th March, 2019.

Peter Wilson, Assistant Director of PaLS, opened the BIP solutions event which was hosted by BBC Sports presenter, Holly Hamilton.

The SMC Team won 2 awards:

1. The ‘Procurement Team of the Year’ and2. The ‘Excellence’ award

The Team faced stiff competition from other public and private sector organisations in their ‘Team of the Year’ category, namely: Translink- Future Ticketing System (TFTS), Construction & Procurement Delivery (CPD) -Procurement Operations Branch, CPD Supplies and Services Division, Local Government Procurement Group, Northern Ireland Water and Translink- Procurement Team.

The SMC team of 12 staff was freshly established in April 2016 and are based in Greenmount House, Ballymena.

The SMC Team is made up of a mix of new and established procurement professionals who have demonstrated enthusiasm, initiative and dedication to delivering an ambitious program which has been recognised and commended by central government.

The team are exclusively involved in partnering with the various Estates Teams across all Trusts to design and implement a new regional service and maintenance contract program for plant and equipment.

The SMC Team’s award submission centred on this collaboration with the various Estates Departments and the positive results achieved thus far.

To cap an already amazing day, the team were stunned and delighted to win the final ‘Excellence’ award for the overall winner across all the award categories!

The SMC Team have now been automatically entered as a finalist into the UK National Awards on the 30th April, in the Procurement Team of the Year category. This greatly enhances the profile of the team and the broader BSO PaLS service; providing positive recognition to those who have worked hard to collaboratively deliver the program with HSCNI.
