that phase of the management which deals with the effective control and use of manpower or human resources.

Staffing has been described as the managerial function of filling and keeping field ,the position in any organization structure. Staffing is
identifying the recruitment of workforce followed by recruitment, selection,
placement, promotion, appraisal and development of personnel to fill the
roles designed into the organizational structure.

ESTIMATING MAN POWER
• Staffing process begin with the estimation of manpower requirement which means finding out number and type of employees needed by the organization in near future.
RECRUITMENT
• It refers to process of inducing the people to apply for the job in the organization to recruitment. To recruit people from outside the organization contact various placement consultant, employment exchanges, contractors etc.
SELECTION
• It refers to choosing the most suitable candidate to fill the vacant job position. The selection is done through a process, which involves test, interviews etc.
PLACEMENT AND ORIENTATION
Placement refers to occupying of post by the candidate for which he has selected. After selection the employee is given appointment letter and is asked to occupy the vacant job position.
STAFFING AS PART OF HUMAN RESOURCE
MANAGEMENT• The staffing function deals with the human
element of management. Managing the human component of an organization is the most important task because the performance of an organization depends upon how well this function is performed. The success of an organization in achieving its goal is determined to a great extent on the competence, motivation and performance of its human resources.
HRM includes many specialized activities
and duties;
• Recruitment ; search for qualified people• Analyzing jobs, collecting, information
about jobs to prepare job descriptions.• Developing compensation and incentives
plan.• Maintaining labor relation and union
management relation.• Handling grievances and complaints.
• Providing for social security and welfare of employees.
• Defending the company in law suits and avoiding legal complications.
