Page 1: Business Profile March 23-2005

WTC Communications has expanded their presence to the GreaterKingston Area by opening a downtown office at 177 Wellington Streetwhere they provide businesses and residences with the most up-to-date communication technology.

WTC Communications has a well-established founda-tion, originating back to1932 as the Westport TelephoneCompany. They have a proven history of providing reli-able communications services and excellent customerservice.

Since 1998, Kingston area consumers have beenenjoying reliable Internet service provided by WTCCommunications, after they acquired InternetKingston. Now their business focus has recentlyexpanded to offer the Greater Kingston Area additionalleading edge communication services.

Their latest services include Voice over Internet Protocol(VoIP) - a technology that allows customers to make tele-phone calls using a broadband Internet connectioninstead of a regular phone line. Also available are dedi-cated access, wireless high-speed Internet access, longdistance savings plans, alarm monitoring and systems.

Tom Lynn, President of WTC Communications, knowsfirst hand that his communication solutions are ground-breaking. He uses VoIP on a daily basis, as WTC operatestheir entire business on VoIP.

"If I take my VoIP phone and plug it in wherever I am, it’s fully functional and I am accessi-ble, as if I was in my own office," said Lynn, who

has been running the company withbrother Steve Lynn, General

Manager, for almost thirtyyears in Westport. "This is

allowing us as a tele-phone company to offer

VoIP service anywhereto anyone with ahigh-speed Internetconnection."

VoIP ideally bene-fits the increasingly

demanding commu-nication needs for the

ever-growing mobileworkforce and telecom-muter. Customers withthe IP Voice Package cantalk to anyone around theworld, and the call is freeas long as all callers are onWTC’s service.

With VoIP, there is defin-itive return on investment. For example, if you live and work in Kingston and the companyyou work for has their headquarters in Ottawa, then everywhere you plug in you are in a 613area code. And if you travel to Tokyo or anywhere in the world, you still call from a 613 areacode.

Customers can simplify meetings with the conference calling features that allow them tobring up to six people into the call. And if another person in the call is a WTC VoIP customerthen they can also bring in another six people, making it possible for 12 callers to participate. If all the callers are on WTC’s service, then the call is free, no matter where these customers

are or how long the duration of the call.Dave Keith, Director of Sales, joined WTC Communications

because he saw WTC as a well-established company thathas been incorporating leading edge technology over

time, bringing services to market successfully, all whilemaintaining a steady client base.

"When you put all of that together, it’s very com-parable to what you would see in larger compa-nies like Bell or IBM," said Keith.

Keith is enthusiastic about the complete com-munication package that WTC Communicationsoffers their customers and points out some ofthe major benefits.

"We are seeing more and more people that aregetting to the point where they want to deal with

fewer companies, and people are saying they want tohave one statement, with one company, and have thecost benefits of doing so," said Keith.

"We’re trying to simplify things for our customers, andgive them the opportunity of one invoice. At end of theday when you’ve got one company to deal with, you’vegot to choose that company carefully," said Keith. "Forsingle point of contact, there is nobody else in EasternOntario that offers the full range of services that we do."

WTC is a communications success story. They have continued to keep up with the latesttechnology - launching innovations before their main and largest competitors, while at thesame time making every effort to exceed the expectations of their customers. VoIP is just anexample of this; WTC Communications is the first full service provider to offer this as a qual-ified business application in the Greater Kingston Area.

"An analogy I like to use is VoIP is doing to the phone world what digital cameras did to thephotography world - the whole world is changing around this," said Keith.

On Thursday, March 24th, WTC Communications is proudly presenting the 2005 AnnualGeneral Meeting for the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce. WTC's newest offering is"Wireless Broadband Internet Access", for residential and business customers located in theGreater Kingston Area.
