Transcript of Business presentations with impact
Recurrent issues in presentations
• Lacking a clear set of goals and objectives
• PowerPoint driven instead of presenter driven
• Content rules over effectiveness
• Academically structured instead of story line structured
Time for business presentations with more impact
Business presentations with impact in 10 steps

4. Identify desired beliefs for potential topics• BUSINESS EXAMPLE for a presentation to convince decision makers to buy NEW
BRAINSTORMING SOFTWARE for the company
• My audience should believe that…
• The mindmapping tool combined with Office export will boost creative thinking but at the
same time structured output of ideas
• The possibility to export to Office will allow to get rid of a couple of other softwares and save
money
• The price is only one fifth of what we can save
• The interface is user friendly and has a learning center so no extra training is needed.
5. Create your 1 minute story line• BUSINESS EXAMPLE for a presentation to convince decision makers to buy NEW
BRAINSTORMING SOFTWARE for the company
Our innovation depends on creative thinking
Creative thinking is non linear associative thinking
We now use linear methods and tools to capture & share creative ideas, turn them
into projects & follow up.
We need multiple tools to do all of the above.
This software combines all of the tools in one because the creative mindmaps can
be exported to/ imported into Word, PowerPoint and MS project
6. Prepare your introYour intro is like bait on a fishing hook…• Describe the situation as it is now• Talk about the issues, problems that situation holds/ could hold.• Mention implications of the problem, or what could happen if nothing
changes• List the things/ changes needed to solve or prevent the problem.
Tell your audience you are about to show them how your ’solution’
will tackle or prevent their problem• This last part will come back @ the end…

Topics required to prove how your solution tackles the problem
7.
Is not a table of content! (very little detail)
Try to limit to 6
Run through and glue them together
Words like Q&A, intro, conclusion don’t belong here
Contracts on use of phones, laptops etc follow after
8. BUILD UP AN EFFECTIVE PROOF PROVIDING PRESENTATION• Make your presentation solution oriented where you can• Create relevance for every new piece of info before you say or show it• Make sure your visual is no ‘overload’. Make it simple or animate• Draw attention with questions and stories (tell them in direct speech)• Stick to your structure• Make sure listeners ‘see’ the structure• Park questions that are out of scope

9. ANNOUCE THE END• Attention & recall go up when people know it’s
almost finished
• End where you started: summarize
how each issue raised @ start will
be solved by your solution

10. RUN AN EFFECTIVE Q&A• Invite your audience to ask questions
• Prepare a rethorical question to launch the Q&A yourself if needed
• If you don’t know, say so. Never lie.
• If a question makes your nervous, don’t answer straight away. Buy some time and
ask for more details
• Probe closed questions if you suspect they hide an opinion
• When being ‘yes but-ed’ followed by opinion, ask for examples or details before
replying www.jtc-services.com
JUST DO IT!
