Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito’s Youth Arts Academy (YAA), is hosting this year’s 11th annual Commotion – Youth Rock Concert and fundraiser on Sunday, May 19 from 11am to 2pm. This year’s Concert will again take place at the Music Box, a major player in the San Diego’s Live Music Arena. The Music Box, has the same capacity as the Belly Up and a few hundred less than the House of Blues and North Park Observatory. We are anticipating roughly two to hundred guests. This event is family and community friendly and will feature our Youth Arts Academy’s student created rock bands as well as featuring our popular Monday Night Jazz Band and few of our advance singer/song-writer students. Commotion – Youth Rock Concert provides a unique performance opportunity for our young musicians while raising awareness about the benefits of music education in youth. Our hope is to showcase music’s positive impact on adolescents as reflected in the band members’ musical talents and achievements. Serving more than 250 students a year, YAA was established at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito in 2007 to accommodate the growing number of students interested in performing arts. YAA provides music classes, rock bands, private lessons, dance classes and theater. YAA provides young students, infants to 18, access to a myriad of quality programs designed to stimulate their growth and creativity while expressing themselves through performing arts.

THE OPPORTUNITY Each year, the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito’s Youth Arts Academy—Commotion-Youth Rock Concert welcomes new sponsors and in-kind donors who share in our mission of providing POSITIVE activities to local youth. THE CAUSE Every child needs a safe place where they feel welcomed and loved. We provide children that place to call home during the hours kids need us most. No child is turned away! Over $560,000 was allocated last year in financial aid towards our after school and specialty programs for the children/families who needed us the most. Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with over 6,500 members from North Coastal San Diego County. Our service reach provides facilities, classes and camps to over 10,800 youth annually throughout various areas of San Diego. Our seven clubhouses offer exceptional diverse programs ranging from after-school and summer camp programs, to aquatics, athletics, middle school sports, as well as a Montessori school and a Youth Arts Academy, and The Center for a Healthy Lifestyle. Through our wide variety of programs, we instill life skills as well as a sense of belonging, purpose & community in our local youth.
