Metropolitan Education District
MetroED is the largest career-oriented educational organization in Santa Clara County, comprised of high school and adult career-technical, academic and community programs. MetroED annually provides more than 30,000 diverse students with the skills to help them be productive, income-earning and tax-paying contributors to Santa Clara County.

The Stepping Stones Collaborative
MissionOur mission is anchored in the vision of creating a seamless system of Career-Technical Education between secondary and post-secondary education and the needs of the business industry within Santa Clara County and adjoining portions of San Benito County.
• Members:– MetroED, North County ROP, Central County ROC/P, and South
County ROP– Mission College, West Valley College, Gavilan College, Evergreen
Valley College, San Jose City College, DeAnza College, and Foothill College.
• Funding: – Senate Bill 70 Stepping Stones Grant

What is Career-Technical Education?
(CTE) is a program of study that involves a multiyear sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers.

By 2014, California will have 6.5 million job openings, some of which include: • 188,000 constructions jobs
• 177,000 manufacturing jobs• 50,000 automotive repair jobs
73,100 carpenters
25,100 electricians
132,000 nurses
11,700 welders
• California’s nanotechnology sector needs: 250,000 production workers in the next 10 years.
