When planning a road trip it is valuable to know how much it is going to cost. To calculate this cost there are 3 things you need to know?

1. Distance being driven.2. The car’s MPG.3. The current cost of gas.

I want to go there and then come home, so I will

double those miles.The total trip is

My car gets 30 MPG.

The current cost of gas is an average of

$2.50 per gallon.

So the three things we need to do the math are:

1. Distance being driven.• 776 miles

2. The car’s MPG.• 30 MPG

3. The current cost of gas.• $2.50 per gallon

One more thing that is valuable to know is how far the car can travel before it will need to be refueled. To answer this you need to know?

1. The size of the car’s tank.2. The car’s MPG.

10 Gallon tank.

So the two things we need to do the math are:

1. Car’s Tank Size.• 10 Gallons

2. The car’s MPG.• 25 MPG





Distance Car Can Travel = 10 Gallons x 25 MPG

Distance Car Can Travel = 250 Miles





Distance Car Can Travel = 10 Gallons x 25 MPG

Distance Car Can Travel = 250 Miles

This information becomes important when you are planning how far you can travel

before you need to get more gas. Nothing is worse than being able to drive 250

miles, but having 300 miles to the next gas station!
