Answer ASAP by email to
SA down but not outAccOrDing to the 2012Q3 results, the peak body for
aracng business visitors to
South Australia, the Adelaide
Convenon Bureau, successfully
drew 82 events to date, to
Adelaide and regional South
Australia.
The result
was an
economic
benet of
almost $60million being
injected
into South
Australia
from nearly
27,000
business
visitors
heading to
SA as the events roll out in the
coming years.
This gure is pleasing based on
market condions and availableresources, said Adelaide
Convenon Bureau ceo Damien
Kio.
In these ght economic mes
and with reduced business
development resources, we are
pleased to report that not only
do we return one of the highest
returns on investment to our
stakeholders but we connue to
punch above our weight based
on the naonal snapshot, he
said.Cing the Riverbank
development and the expansion
of the Adelaide Convenon
Centre as reasons they were
oen not in the mix when
invitaons to bid are issued, Kio
admied the problems were
primarily twofold.
Firstly we are nding that the
economic climate is making it
tough to aract naonal events
from the eastern seaboard as
organisers worry about numbersdropping o.
This is similar to the story we
hear from the tradional source
markets of Europe and North
America where events oen elect
to stay close to home.
Kio went on to say that the
second reason they miss out is
due to a more aracve oer
being presented by a rival bidder.
Whilst these bid wins will bring
money into the state over the
coming years, the culminaon
of work done in the past years
will see some $50 million headed
into the state this nal calendar
year quarter from 15,500 visitorsaending over 30 business
events.
This gure will take the total
economic benet from business
events this year to $175 million,
although value of the legacies in
terms of pung Adelaide on the
map, the business opportunies
the local business delegates and
organisaons reap by hosng the
event are immeasurable, he said.

Sama LETEs looseFOllOwing the Luxperience
split and the creaon of two
luxury and experienal shows in
September 2013, (BENMonday
19 Nov) Luxperience co-founder
Rosemarie Sama said that her
new show Luxe Events + Travel
Experiences (LETE) would give a
greater focus on the small-scale
experienal meengs and luxury
events market.
I learnt from buyers feedback
at the rst years Luxperience,
which was incredibly wellreceived by the buyers and
suppliers who parcipated, that
there is a huge demand for this
type of event but that a greater
focus on experienal meengs
and events was needed, said
Sama.
Hence my event for 2013 has a
new format and a new name.
Sama went on to say that buyers
at the globally focused event will
be cherry-picked to ensure only
the highest quality aendancefrom among high end travel
agents, corporate buyers and
bespoke events planners.
In a bold new move, there willbe no exhibion booths, only
comfortable lounge-style meeng
areas and a xed pricing system
to ensure a level playing eld for
parcipaon and an aordable
entry price point.
There will be a series of eight
fun and informave networking
events, held around the Sydney
Harbour area, as well as inspiring
educaon sessions.
LETE 2013 will be held from
2- 4 September, 2013 at SydneysOverseas Passengers Terminal.
