Having received education and being brought up in various domestic and overseas university cultures, our faculty members are competent and acknowledged experts, and highly motivated academicians working to provide quality education with the most recent information for you. With its 14 organized industrial zones that host Turkey’s numerous and various industrial institutions, Bursa offers employment opportunities for our students in terms of applied education and research atmosphere, and for our graduate students in terms of doing Master’s degree.

Structuring its educational, academic and research strategies in accordance with thematic university concept, particularly in technical fields as they are highly required by our city as well as our region and country, BTU is having the pride of taking part in the list of distinguished state universities for having opened heavily demanded departments in a controlled manner and fulfilling population quotas determined for each. BTU provides you with a private education atmosphere with its uncrowded classrooms and 10-student average population per lecturer.

Our rich laboratories consist of high technology devices and equipment, not only to meet the demands of industry, but also to enhance and accelerate the voluntary participation of the distinguished scientists in academic programs through helping the scientists be approved by academic circles’ with their production of numerous projects. The number of our faculty members is increasing day by day and our academic and research fields are diversifying and flourishing with the help of newly established departments. BTU offers you a unique research atmosphere with its modern laboratories and scientific opportunities.

With the foreign language education provided for our students thanks to our English language instructors in the School of Foreign Languages, at least one third of who are native English speakers, our students are taught the English language skills completely. During their undergraduate education, our students are able to take advantage of educational and academic programs such as technical visits to industrial sites, vocational training, career planning support, entrepreneurship, and mutual academic programs agreed with universities overseas. Thanks to that, they will be able to take a step towards their business lives as competent engineers after their graduation from our university.

The students preferring our university will have the opportunity to feel and experience the advantages of strategically a blessed city’s important geographic position, rich culture, artistic facilities and natural beauties which used to be the cradle of the Ottoman Dynasty.

As expected from a technical university, BTU aims at being a solution producing, modern, and branded center providing academic education in accordance with the requirements and needs of the local industry, while conducting research and developing studies so that the graduates of will be primarily preferred by their respective sectors. The youth wishing to choose us will be global citizens and world class engineers that are equipped with the latest knowledge as well as being well-educated owing to their intense practice and training, being in favor of producing solutions, being able to think critically and analytically, self-confident, and having entrepreneur spirit as demanded by the related sectors.

Both consultation and coop-erative projects are conducted with industrial establishments thanks to the advantage of being located in a place which is the center of machine in-dustry, automotive industry in particular. Within this concept, research topics are intention-ally determined to meet the needs and expectations of industries. In Mechanical En-gineering and Automotive En-gineering branches within our department, research studies are carried out on automotive technologies, mechanics, bio-mechanics, robot industries, and heat and energy systems.

Our laboratories, designed with both research and indus-trial needs, are developed day by day. Equipped with modern requirements, they cater to all basic engineering needs espe-cially in automotive technolo-gies, mechanics, biomechan-ics, robot industries, and heat and energy systems sub disci-plines. Students are provided with opportunity of experienc-ing the latest technologies and test systems that they may encounter in different indus-tries. Moreover, they acquire their first experiences at uni-versity before starting their professional life.

BTU Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

Department aims to be the leader in its field in the world with its

laboratory facilities and qualified teaching staff who are experts in their

fields.

Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, starting from natural or synthetic materials which basically has inorganic and organic origins, deals with the design, development and production of the engineering materials like metals, ceramics, polymers and composites and the technical development of these materials according to the needs of various industries.

In 2011-2012 academic year with the first students starting undergraduate education, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department has focused on training engineers who can serve with success in the fields of design, production, and R&D in industries as well as research institutions in the national and international levels with their teams.

After completing the first two years of the basic engineering courses, undergraduate students can choose to specialize in specific areas like course related materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, composite materials, or engineering applications like structural and functional materials. Courses in the undergraduate program includes the extraction of the material, refining, synthesis and manufacturing processes, factors affecting the internal structure, methods used to change the internal structure of the material and understanding the performance and properties of materials.

Our academic staff does research in the fields of material design, production and characterization as well as the areas needed by industry. This research is performed under basic topics such as nanomaterial synthesis, composites production and characterization of solar cells, radiation shielding, micro-nano fabrication techniques, porous materials production and characterization, the development of ballistic armor material.

Why an average class size of 14 students?Practicing is the cornerstone of language learning. Therefore, it is crucial to provide learners with a student-centered classroom environment. In order to promote classroom participation, BTU SFL aims to make their students autonomous learners through the use of pair work activities, group projects and oral & written presentations in an interactive atmosphere.

‘’BTU SFL analyzes students’ language learning needs and business sectors’ expectations!’’

“BTU SFL makes a difference with class sizes of 14 students!”

Why native speakers of English?

BTU SFL instructors are professionals with MA and PhD degrees in the field of foreign language teaching. Our school also works with foreign instructors who encourage students to practice English within and outside the classroom. BTU SFL students enjoy mastering English with the guidance of highly qualified teaching staff.

Why a language teaching system based on needs? BTU SFL develops its curri-culum based on the needs analysis that investigates learning needs, students’ wants and business sector’s expectations. Course syllabi and course materials are or-ganized around learning out-comes. In this way, students are able to learn the langu-age they enjoy and what is needed for their professional careers.

BTU SFL adopts a modular system consisting of 4 quar-ters. Each quarter covers an independent language pro-ficiency level from A1 to B2 with a duration of 8 weeks. Students are taught English for 30 weekly hours focusing on all language skills—spea-king, listening, reading and writing— by four different instructors.

‘’BTU SFL always seeks the best together with professional Turkish and Foreign instructors!”
