BURNTWOOD CHRISTMAS LANTERN PARADE The Burntwood Christmas Lantern Parade is a community cohesion event incorporating aspects of Family and Intergenerational learning and is hoping to benefit the entire area by bringing together the people of Burntwood, young and old alike, in an atmosphere of positive creativity. The community will be invited to attend workshops where they can learn to design and construct their own festive lantern that they can them take with them on a Parade in the local area. The project is being organised by Forward Action Burntwood and supported by a multi-agency partnership with many partners funding the project, as well as directly supporting the workshops, parade and Christmas market. Residents from the local community are volunteering as support workers and as marshals on the evening of the parade. Workshops will take place throughout a two week period commencing 26th November 2011 through to 8th December 2011. The Parade will take place on 10th December through the streets of Oakdene with the Rotary’s Santa leading the way to finish being held at Burntwood Leisure Centre including Carols around the Christmas tree, Christmas market and Reindeer. If you are interested in taking part, please contact Cheryl Rice, Partnership Support Officer at Lichfield District Council (telephone 01543 308763) for further details.
